PORTLAND, Ore., Feb. 26, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Otoharmonics Corporation, a U.S. veteran-owned company offering sound therapy for tinnitus management, has been awarded a five-year Federal Supply Schedule Medical Equipment and Supply contract, making Levo available immediately to patients receiving care within the Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Defense, Bureau of Prisons, Indian Heads Services, and Public Health Services.

Compatible with the Clinical Practice Guidelines for Tinnitus published by the American Academy of

Otolaryngologists and the VA's Progressive Tinnitus Management Program, the Levo System's sleep therapy has been shown to reduce the level of tinnitus intensity and improve the quality of life in several published peer-reviewed studies, including a randomized controlled study by the National Center for Rehabilitative Auditory Research at the VA Portland Health Care System.

"Increasing access to affordable, evidence-based tinnitus care for U.S. service men and women has been an ongoing focus for Otoharmonics," said Michael Baker, CEO. "The FSS award is a significant step towards expanding care within this underserved patient population."

Tinnitus is the number one service-related disability among U.S. veterans, according to the American Tinnitus Association. An often-overlooked outcome of active duty, tinnitus is typically a result of exposure to loud noise. Whether it's from a high noise environment such as flight, use of heavy machinery, or being near severe and sudden explosives, the effects of tinnitus can be long-lasting. Left untreated, symptoms may increase over time and significantly impact the quality of life.

The Levo System is an FDA-cleared medical device that works in concert with the brain's natural restorative and learning processes. Designed for home use, those suffering from buzzing or ringing in the ears listen to personalized sound therapy while sleeping to gain relief. Over time, the brain learns to ignore the tinnitus perception, resulting in a reduction of tinnitus intensity and negative impact.

About Otoharmonics Corporation Otoharmonics Corporation is a privately held company with headquarters in Portland, Oregon USA. As an international team of world–class neuroscientists, clinicians, business professionals, and patients, Otoharmonics has developed the Levo System for tinnitus management, which is specifically designed for use during sleep. Thanks for posting this. I try to ignore the tinnitus as best as I can. So far it’s manageable unless I get a sinus infection.

Then he doesnt have it that bad AT ALL and trust me, most here can attest to that it’s somewhat of a nightmare sometimes.

When you get it, get back to us.

Not even sure how your comment is relevant to be honest.

There’s lots of interesting threads today for people without tinnitus.

Have a good one.

Pulsatile Tinnitus here from Brain Injury.

Will hear every heartbeat until I die :)

I was told even if hearing nerve was cut you would still have tinnitus.

When I get tired it get’s louder. Anyone else notice that?

Perhaps there’s a way to keep everyone updated on anything new that has worked, including the treatment on this thread.

And YES, MANY snake oil treatments out there.

I DID notice that when I stopped using my hearing aid (severe hearing loss right ear) that it got worse and then musical note popped up.

I read that’s because the part of the brain involved in hearing tries to grab any noise and interprets it terribly wrong. In case anyone wanted to know.

Tinnitus..the gift you dont want that keeps on giving :)

Mine isn’t so severe that I’d want to lose all hearing in that ear by cutting the nerve, and it would be double horrible if I did and the tinnitus was still there.

I’ll be 60 in April, so I’ll just suffer for the next 15-20 years, if’n I’m lucky and the Good Lord is willing. It won’t matter after that.

I’ve been hearing a ticking sound kind of merged with the sound of cicadas since I was about 10 and it’s unbelievably irritating

Only thing that I have found that helps is if I am not in conversation with people around me or on phone or in meetings I have music on loud enough to drown it out

The worst is trying to get to sleep—usually I am so tired it doesn’t matter but if I am rested it’s terrible as I like a completely dark, completely silent bedroom so I can hear what is goign on both in and outside the house.

Mine flares up immediately after too much salt. One slice of pizza does it before I’m finished with it. Goes away later, mostly.

I’ve had it for decades. Severe hearing loss in right ear along with outrageous tinnitus. Stemmed from gunfire when younger without hearing protection. Exacerbated by gunfire in military even with hearing protection. Does not get better. You either learn to live with it or it will drive you to the point of doing yourself in.

That’s not crazy. We hear them sometimes from our fireplace. Maybe they are audio hallucinations but I have no specific Association with them from any other source and my son was there and hurt them too

I am sorry you have it so bad.

I live with it of course but it’s the pulsatile part that drives me a little batty. :)

I dont need to be reminded that my heart is beating :)

Is hearing protection something they address now in the military when using rifles or would it just not be feasible?

And yes I have read of suicides from tinnitus and no, tinnitus ALONE, even with the pulsatile, is NOT a good enough reason to end it! :)

IT’s a b.tch, but I’m not.

Survived much worse symptoms from brain injury. Mostly recovered with some lasting issues.

But suicide is always a permanent answer to a temporary problem.

And it ain’t the right answer!
