A Manhattan legislator said Monday that she appreciates the vandal who defaced a Florida statue honoring the sailor kissing a female nurse in Times Square to mark the end of World War II because it was a forced smooch.
I appreciate someone recognizing that a random man grabbing a random woman is completely inappropriate, City Councilwoman Helen Rosenthal, who chairs the Committee on Women, told The Post after a hearing on adding more monuments in the city honoring women and minorities.

Your country just went through a terrible war, which resulted in the death of approximately 406,000 American soldiers. You lived through this pitiless gauntlet and actually made it back to the States alive and whole. You're young, male, and normal, and you see a pretty girl---is it not a quintessential American gesture to grab her and kiss her in a gesture of the pure joy of being alive? I never heard any complaint from Greta Zimmer Friedman, the nurse being kissed. As a matter of fact, she twice arranged to get together again with the young man who planted that mighty kiss of joy on her--George Mendonsa--to rekindle that joyous moment in history.
OK, you stupid moronic woman--does this sound like the woman kissed had any regrets? Is it OK for people to celebrate the end of a soul searing world war by spontaneously doing something which clearly is the province of only the living, as a sort of proof to themselves that they're alive? Obviously; it's part of the human makeup.
But to sick individuals like YOU, it's OK to deface public property and attempt to deny American history. And, you attempt to hold people of 2 generations ago to your own current and sick standards.
News flash: it's OK to vandalize and deny only in YOUR sick demented bizarro world of progressivism, an agenda designed to destroy our country. And replace it with what? Venezuela? Councilman Rubin Diaz Sr., who recently criticized the moral fiber of our city council, was taken off important committees and publicly chastised for his brave stance. But he was right. Four of the five boroughs of NYC have gay council members, just proving how depraved this city has become. And YOU, Helen Rosenthal, unkempt YOU, are a cheerleader for the destruction. Please crawl under a rock, where the grubs, rats, and other vermin dwell.
It sounds like Rosenthal might have some mental issues. She should go get that checked.
The boys were coming home!! Including my dad and 6 uncles.
I think I lived through the best days of America, from WWII to 2000. We are a grim society now, heading for worse.
We really have quite the gaggle of blithering s**theads in our government. At every level.
We are a country gone made. My mother and father both WWII veterans passed away in the same year. . .my Dad got very anxious watching the news with what was happening in America. We just didn’t watch the news after I realized how it affected him.
Oops make that a country gone MAD!

We gotta hang the socialist libtard idiots before they get us.
Yup. Unfortunately that timeframe allowed libtard idiots to come to power.
Youre right, weve seen and lived the best days of this country, a gift to us from the bravery and hard work of our parents. We took that gift and spoiled our children into a pack of lazy, ignorant and selfish snowflakes. There are terrible things in store for the millennials and theyre too stupid to know it. God help them.
I now pray for hours a day for Jesus to return.
Force marriage on underage girls, don’t force a kiss on an adult woman!! We are Progressive!
Rosenthal sounds like a Jewish name. She doesn’t appreciate the Americans who gave their lives in World War II for the Jews?
Of course they celebrated the end of the war. They spent more than 5 years sending their sons and daughters off to war and bringing some of them home to bury them. Thousands more are buried away from home.
Did anybody in her family fight in the war?
Now, every day I am becoming more embarrassed to be female lest others think I might also be an inflamed man-hating fanatic like these nutcases.
Correct...Those of us over 60 have seen the best of America and the best of times...It won’t ever be the same...I feel for the youngers...They’ll never understand how good they could’ve had it....
I would never have thought of using that modifier but you are absolutely right. We are living in a GRIM society.
