This is another treatment like rapid eye movement therapy which won’t work at all for people stuck in a hypervigilant state. I’m glad it’s here and will work for some people, but it isnt going to be a universal cure.

Awesome! Especially since I know about a hundred non-theater vets who changed spark plugs stateside for a few months and now have $1900/month PTSD. My favorite is the “Navy Seal” who was “dyed orange” from his work with the Air Force “killing women and children.” Had the tattoo and everything. No BUDS class - too top secret for that stuff... But always the $2000/month from the taxpayer.

I find it odd that our WW2 fathers and our Korean war fathers and even our Nam vets seemed to manage to get thru the war and not have to claim a big ol govt check....

limbs were blown off, people shot and mangled and horrible atrocities suffered and witnessed and yet they came home and went to work or school.

I am told ( not sure I believe it ) is that PTSD is more common in a guerrilla/terrorist type of war because their are no rear areas. In WWII and Korea you could be pulled off the line for a while to keep your sanity and you pretty much knew you were safe.

My cardiologist told me about this. He said that Trump ordered one for every Veteran’s hospital.

WW2 thru Vietnam did not have anti-depressants given to them willy-nilly when they got back.

Here you have soldiers that as they were enlisting they could not have been on drugs and yet they leave service and then they are plied with drugs.

Never made sense to me, especially when the anti-deppresants they give them have a warning about suicide for the user.

Thank you, unfortunately we know a lot of people in on this type of scam as well. It is not just military personnel claiming to be disabled by PTSD these days. I know people who were retiring who were not complaining about PTSD symptoms who were told they should so they could get extra money tacked onto their check.

I also have known people who have real problems who won't admit it and suffer in silence. I also know people with PTSD type symptoms who cause a lot of problems for themselves and their families by “self medicating” or just being nasty and sometimes violent a-holes.

Have you got a veteran son living with you
at home, who suffers with PTSD? I do.
Your generalizations are unfair.
PTSD is very real, and he earned his
VA disability check. It’s what’s paying
his medical bills.

You know a wide variety of Vets. I recall going to the VA in late 89 for help from two GSW’s plus my L5 was over my S1. I had over 50% combined from GSW’s, so; I could see anyone then. I just happened to see Vets so drugged up they did the thorazine shuffle. Sad. At least back then they needed a PH, CIB, CMB, combat action ribbon, or a valor award to qualify for PTSD.

Got some bad news for you.
Vets from all modern day major
wars, suffer from PTSD. ie...
Neighbor next door; WWII vet.
90 years old, and still manages
to get up his roof at times to
guard his house at night.
Life long friend; Vietnam vet.
70 years old, ducks under the
bleachers when the cannon goes
off before a football game.
And both of these soldiers collect
a check from the VA for PTSD.
They weren’t supermen back then,
any more than they’re not today.

Many firefighters and police officers now claim to have PTSD sometimes to get disability before they are eligible for retirement or occasionally when they get themselves into some type of difficulty that is likely to get them fired. During my career I worked in city known for its crime and other problems. I saw a lot of nasty crap and I retired with a standard service retirement almost as soon as I was eligible after 25 years because I had seen enough.

A few years later I don’t think much about the bad stuff at all, but at the time it was starting to make me anxious about going to work and occasionally disrupting my sleep. I do not miss it much. I don’t think it was ever a mental problem like PTSD... I had just had my fill of crap and staying up often for nearly 24 hours.

With all the graphic crap people watch at the theaters and on HD TV for entertainment, I have to wonder how much different this is from seeing it in real life? I used to sometimes think that my job was a lot like being in a movie only with better audio and video along with nasty smells etc... And these days my memories are not a lot different from my memories of movies that I have seen. So why don’t all these moviegoers have PTSD?
