From my FReeper profile, with the latest update:
Heart attack survivor end of June 2011, stented, finished cardiac rehab and back to playing B'ball. Update: My cardiologist ordered me to have a follow-up stress test in May '17. The display showed an anomaly, so he recommended a catheterization procedure in July. The stent was blocked and other blockage was found and fixed. God has been better to me than I deserve. If you have not done so, HAVE A STRESS TEST. I had no symptoms like weakness or shortness of breath, playing ball 2-4 times a week and running a bit. Could'a dropped dead.
Update as of 12/31/18: I actually DID drop dead, playing b'ball the Sunday after Thanksgiving this year. Collapsed on the court, no pulse or respiration (they tell me). I was wearing a monitor at the time, a data-gathering follow-up on the prior problems. I was revived by the first aid squad's defib and kept in a coma for several days (they tell me). I then had a pacemaker/defib device installed, which appears to be working well. No ball for another two months, per the doc. Not supposed to drive, either; that's the most stressful part! Again, God has been better to me than I deserve!
Your work here on Earth isn’t finished.
Part of His plan for you. He must not be done with you yet.
"...Thank you, God..."
congrats to you for living and thank God and the health care professionals...
Quite amazing. Every day is precious. God bless you.
and thanks for the advice.
My arrhythmia has been caught several times on EKGs and a Holter monitor. The doc doesn't worry about it even though it bothers the heck out of me, especially at night.
Congrats, JimRed on your resurrection!
Testify, brother, testify!
Wow, quite a Christmas miracle! Get well soon!
How old did you say you are? Please don’t answer if you don’t want to.
Anything change for you in the last few weeks? Perspective, thoughts, goals, etc? Would love to hear.
I would suggest that you ask Dr. Jim Fixx about heart issues but unfortunately he is deceased. He wrote a book about exercise. He died at 43. They found him in a ditch near his home. He was jogging and dropped dead.
Your story shrinks beside my story:
Triple-bypass in 1988 after years of eating what I wanted when I wanted in large doses. Yes, that is 19eighty-eight! Not a typo. Two or three heart attacks since then.
The original surgeon told me that genetics is the controlling factor - not lifestyle, diet or any other factor. He said that I would have had a heart attack even if I had been a monk.
Haven’t reached your pull date yet.
Praise God and His earthly angels that came to your rescue!
You must be part of His plans yet unfinished.
God Bless

He blessed me with a quad graph in 2006 didn’t have a heart attach but they found all my blocks on Nuclear stress test.
Congrats to you and Happy New Year.
My doctor said the same thing. His point was diet, smoking can exacerbate things though.
I came close to death twice in 2018. Short version: if dye was used my remaining kidney would be damaged and be I’d be on dialysis.
A doctor at the VA Hospital (from Iran) has perfected a procedure to place stents with less chance of damage to the kidney. First they drained 14 pounds of water in 4 days which flushed all of the to toxins out of the kidney. The they put the dye in, took some x-rays then flushed the dye out. The next day a cardiologist ballooned one stent, cleaned two and placed a fourth. He went to see my wife raising his fists in the air saying “I did it.”!
My creatinin level was 1.1 after the procedure.
Shortly after the Iranian doctor got notice her visa was up and she would have to go back to Iran 6 months before her studies were complete. She was devastated.
Short version of this is I called a congressman and told his staff the story. Her visa was extended long enough for her to complete her 6 year study.
God is great, my friend. Good luck in 2019!
Good to have you back! You wouldn’t want to miss the big show in ‘19.
Why you?
Perhaps, like me, I discovered that is isn’t about me, it’s about who I touch in life and love.
HE didn’t save me for me, HE saved me for others.
Glad to see that you’re still with us!
