The dogs were pit bulls or pit bull mixes, said John Welsh, a spokesman for Riverside County Animal Services. They have been impounded.
Her injuries were described to the responding officer as severe, Welsh said.
The woman, who is not the owner of the dogs, was attacked on her property on Mitchell Road about 10 a.m. while doing laundry, Animal Services Sgt. Lesley Huennekens said. There were no witnesses. Investigators are still trying to determine why the attack happened.
Animal Services has identified the dogs owner, Welsh said. The Riverside County Sheriffs Department is also investigating the attack.

???
That what you get for hanging out a pair of red shorts.
My little terrier rescue pup came from a shelter. When I went there to pick him out, ninety percent of the dogs there were put bills or pit bull mixes. These things are like a contagion.
Something new! Dog bites man/woman/kid story. Never happened before.
Up next; man bites dog.
In CA, most insurance companies require that you declare any dogs and adjust your rates accordingly. Failure to comply equals no coverage. I was told that dog bites result in the most liability lawsuits.
Oh, once or twice. In fact scores of times involving Punk Bulls.
So picky. I got something new for you.
Dog bites bear.

Hehehe... timing is everything. :-)
It was funny I found that article by accident right after I read your post. :)
Unpossible. Everyone knows that pit bulls are harmless loveable furr balls.
I wonder what pit bull tastes like?
IN pitbull? Not From?
How big was this dog?
Sad. Another sacrifice to the un-American sadists in the domestic, illegal drug cartels established in our country. In some states, both criminals and police will come after you for shooting a pit bull to save your life. Don’t buy anything from those states.
You cant see the psychological sick need some people have to be jerks by owning one or more dogs with bad reputations. I understand some people are born jerks and some are raised that way. is your whole family jerks or is it just you?
Being a jerk is your forte. Too bad you can’t see that.
You have a bad reputation; why does your family keep YOU?
The single-dog, single-human attack is becoming so common by this breed-type that it is, unfortunately less comment-worthy.
Possibly one might be interested to note that the pit bull breed type is now more commonly attacking multiple persons, particularly children and the elderly.
Five days ago, another schoolyard playground invasion attack occurred in Seattle, Washington. Of course you would be aware of this one, too.

(This is a commentary on the attack, and also includes similar attacks in Ohio and Oklahoma recently)
From the article: “ Only a few attacks of comparable severity on children either in school, or on their way to or from school, have not involved pit bulls. Those few involved Rottweilers or wolf hybrids.”
Now you’ve done it. You’re going to draw the ire of the pitbull loving crowd.
Prepare to be inundated with cute pitbull puppy pictures.
Were it not for FR requiring third party posting I could provide about a dozen cute little pitbull pictures. All are dead and were shot by me while they were attacking cattle here on the ranch, two chewed up a young mare so bad I had to put her down. All of these dogs came from a small town bordering the ranch. Found one dead last week up by the Prairie Dog town, coyotes had stripped it to the bone. Don’t know if the Coyotes killed it or the Javalina’s did.
If the owner is breeding them illegally, say for fighting, the owner would likely not have insurance coverage anyway.
The best way to stop these attacks is to prosecute the living hell out of illegal breeders and anyone involved in dogfighting.
