A good sealing of the border keeps American money out of the cartels' hands. That's bad for business.

Putting American troops under Mexican command would be a mess and would not go well with the American people or military. Sending American troops into Mexico would set off a powder keg. Best to keep our people on our side of the border.

Most particularly the Mexican government, judging by the measures they’ve taken just the last few hours.

I’d say that Trump’s got Mexico’s undivided attention about that border. Plus a whole lot of other “little details”....
