A Medieval knight re-enactor has impaled himself with his lance during a performance and died.
News outlets report 53-year-old Peter Barclay, of Virginia, was competing in an equestrian game in Williamstown, Kentucky, when he was wounded Saturday. Barclay's brother and the president of event holder Society for Creative Anachronism, John Fulton, says Barclay was trying to spear a paper plate on the ground.
Fulton says in a Facebook post that the metal-tipped lance hit the ground and flipped, stabbing Barclay's chest. He says Barclay, who performed under the name "Master Terafan Greydragon," died while being flown to a hospital.

I heard one translation of “petard” was “fart”.
Of course for some, they might be both explosion and fart.
Thanks...We all should keep in mind this fellow was a man with a family.
As incongruous as his death is, we shouldn’t inject humor into it.
I fall prey to it on occasion.
The foliage here, is just past peak, but still so beautiful.
I know... Too bad you can’t unsend. I also regret being flippant about the loss of that man’s life.
“Master Terafan Greydragon,”
Master Terafan Deaddragon.
“A petard was an explosive device.”
Yes originally, but in common usage has come to be a figure of speech that means anything that does someone in by their own foibles.
“Awful way to die, sincere prayers to the gentleman’s family.”
Sort of like Steve Irwin catching a stingray barb through his wishbone.
“It must have been horrifying for the spectators.”
It was more horrifying for the victim.
“It must have been horrifying for the spectators.”
It was more horrifying for the victim.
“It must have been horrifying for the spectators.”

“More people die playimg golf than than any other sport!”
Heart attacks and golf cart drunk driving.
Heya Daffynition-Good to hear from you, hope all is well up there...:)
I was up in Maine last week, and it didn’t look nearly as nice as your back yard!
This is terrible. What a loss of a fine man.
Agreed, and it is probably not a stretch to say (even if it does sound hackneyed) that he died doing what he loved, and had provided a good deal of enjoyment and entertainment to a lot of people.
If you want to reenact Knights wouldn’t you go to England or France or someplace that they actually had Knights?
Believe it or not, there are pockets of US Civil War reenactors in Europe.
Thanks for letting me know. I have lost many SCA friends so please send along my condolences to his family.
Will do. Its been a rough few years for the SCA in that regard.
