Same here...lurked for four years before signing up...can't even remember what was my "maiden post".
When my son signed up about four years later he posted an introductory rant--in News--about the new electronic voting machines in our county which were programmed to prevent "undervoting" on "vote for no more than two" sections of the ballot.
NOBODY took him to the woodshed for posting in news.
We are not changing for the better.
I’m happy to be able to agree with metmom for a change.
My years as an undergraduate far above Cayuga’s Waters were educational for sure, but I’m not sure that I’d recommend that anyone consciously choose it. The People’s Republic of Ithaca is not my cup o tea.

I rejoined today as well I was a freeper in the 90s for 10+ years. Registration was disabled. Glad it was reopened.

There were some really good things about CU, and I’m very grateful to God for His providence, because I can see the benefit, but it was quite a leap and a stretching experience for a boy from the backwoods of Oregon. Of course, I’m sure I caused my own amount of grief.
Freshman or Sophomore year someone was in the dorm selling/distributing a communist newspaper, and a fair number of people said he needed to go up to my room and talk with me. As an economics major, I was able to engage him for quite some time and I think he had some grounds for making headway. The look on his face when he turned around to leave and saw the Stars and Bars hanging on the closet behind him was kind of priceless.
