A teenage mine worker has been mauled to death by a female grizzly bear and her two cubs on an Alaskan island.
Anthony David Montoya, 18, a contract worker from Hollis, Oklahoma, died at a remote drill site accessible only by helicopter on Monday, authorities said.
State Troopers said Montoya, who worked for Idaho-based Timberline Drilling, had been working at a drill site on the edge of the Hecla Greens Creek Mine property in southeastern Alaska when he was attacked.
He was mauled by the three bears, all of which were killed before they arrived.
(?????? who are they???) sod
The Hecla Greens Creek Mine, one of the world's largest silver producers, is located about 18 miles south of Juneau on Admiralty Island.
The island is famous for its coastal grizzlies, also known locally as brown bears, and has the densest population, or most bears per square mile, in North America.

Alaska Ping
Fake Newsers are in a panic... Do they blame Trump for this, or Kavanaugh? And if they go with Kavanaugh, how to they work in the throwing of ice that triggered the bear?
People working in grizzly country should be armed or protected by armed hunters.
I was also comfortable with my little .380 in bear country.

(It was perfect for shooting the other other guy in the leg so I could get away.)
LOL
On the coast these are known as Alaskan Brown bears and are larger than the av-er-age grizz. (Ok Yogi).
As a side note, did he throw his drink in some body’s face over an insult or “throw a 20lb block of ice” at somebody in an effort to harm them? Inquiring minds would like to know. Or perhaps he “spilled” his drink (with ice in it) on someone in a crowded bar?
Love the MSM memes!
Sad that this young man found himself on the wrong side of an Alaskan Grizzly. Prayers for his family.

agreed; just a month ago I was on a guided tour outside Hoonah, Alaska, and a tribal hunter was assigned to our group...they are highly reluctant to shoot a bear, and none of us wanted to see that happen; a moot point, as bears were nowhere to be seen...
I’ve worked on Admiralty Island out in the woods. We had a professional Indian bear guide with a rifle, we all had spray, and most of us were armed as well.
The guide was more concerned about the wild dogs, and shot two. I could never tell if he was being honest or just messing me us.
“You smell that?”
“Huh?”
“Bear. Moving behind that ridge to get downwind of us.”
Teenage?

sad indeed; a terrible way to die...
Killed by Zombie Grizzlies, who were dead before they arrived..
RIP, young man.
Valley of 10,000 Smokes? lots of bears
I knew a guy who owned a gold mine in Alaska. He carried a .44 magnum with him everywhere.
And probably had a .375 H&H or similar not far away!
