I knew a guy who owned a gold mine in Alaska. He carried a .44 magnum with him everywhere.I do not own a gold mine, but I carry when I fish or hunt. I used to carry a 454 Casull, but i realized the recoil took too much time to recover. Now I use a 44 mag. Time is NOT your friend when a bear charges.
