One of the things I like is that we try to avoid real profanity here on this site. (Unlike that OTHER site where people cannot seem to express themselves without every other word as profanity)
I like it that we avoid it. We do have young people, I have seen as young as 10 on here, and I like that we try to keep it relatively clean, though some of the pictures posted sometimes tread the line.
Nobody will castigate you if you have an occasional (and I do mean “occasional”) “shit” or “damn”, but the “F” word and the “C” word are definitely and actively discouraged and can get your post pulled.
Things can get quite heated (as you likely know) but it only reinforces that you don’t need to be a “fine and fancy cusser” to really stick a knife in someone and make it hurt. That happens, and I have been occasionally guilty.
I think the lack of profanity encourages generally more effective and polite discourse. The Left pays lip service to that, but we actually do it.
