Robots Reveal Possible 3,000-Year-Old Human Sacrifices in Peru

The use of high technology in the form of small, all-terrain robots has made it possible to shed light on possible human sacrifices as much as 3,000 years old in the temple of Chavin de Huantar in Peru, the first major religious and pilgrimage center in South American history.

The Chavin Rovers, as the robots are called... edged through the narrow channels that lead to the galleries of the complex, many of which remain hidden to this day, and came upon the most important discovery on this site in the last 50 years.

These robotic four-wheel-drive vehicles, guided by remote control and equipped with cameras and lighting systems, played a leading role in the first discovery of burials from the Chavin period, graves of the same men who built the temple and which are still intact after thousands of years.

"What's interesting is that they weren't people of high social standing. They were probably sacrificed, but we'll find that out with further studies," US archaeologist John Rick, director for almost 25 years of the excavations financed by Peru's Culture Ministry, Stanford University in the United States and the Antamina mining company.

The US archaeologist was intrigued by the position of the bodies, buried face down under piles of rocks, which he considered "not very honorable" treatment for the departed.

"So we have solved part of the mystery about where the people of Chavin buried their dead. I don't believe it was customary to do it in the galleries but sometimes they did," said Rick, who in two months has hardly set foot outside the ruins, nestled in a remote valley of the Andes at 3,100 meters (10,200 feet) above sea level...

“human sacrifices”

I dislike the term. “Ritual murders” is more accurate.

Possible 3,000-Year-Old Human Sacrifices in Peru>>>>>>>>>>>

Which is why we need an open Southern border, so their descendants can do their thing in the USA.

To be thorough one needs to observe that 3,000 years ago human sacrifice was also being practiced in Europe and elsewhere. The folks in Sourh America just didn’t have access to peat bogs.

Nothing about the number of bodies.

Could they have been executions?

Europe never had the massive executions and sacrifices that happened in South America.

What happened in South America was on a much different scale.

“Many reputable scholars today put the number between 20,000 and 250,000 per year for the whole Aztec Empire.”

I suppose we would want to open our borders to the descendants, after all the USA is becoming heavily populated. We may need a population adjustment.

Methuselah lived to 969

Where did they find 3,000 year olds to sacrifice?

Yes, they had a lot. They also had very efficient agriculture and lots and lots of people (there have recently been some lidar studies of Mayan areas that suggest an actual population density easily 10 times what has been previously suggested). They also seem to have frequently used human sacrifice as a way to control rival population numbers.

Some years ago I pondered the outline of an alternate history text. In it Columbus does not return to Europe and as a consequence the arrival of Europeans is delayed several decades.

The real impact is with the Aztecs you mentioned, as it seems they had a prophesy that just happened to coincide with the arrival of Spaniards as well as certain signs in the sky. Now assuming the same prophetic background what would the elites do if no one had show up as predicted? You can bet your bottom dollar they wouldn’t say “well, we were wrong” but would double down claiming they had won their gods’ approval. So in the book when people from north western Europe finally do show up the Aztecs have forged an alliance that has expanded north and south, obliterating coastal peoples all the way to where they have new outposts near our NOLA and administrative centers near our Houston.

The Mississippian people, under the influence of the Little Ice age and less efficient agriculture would be reeling, and they and Eastern tribes would eagerly receive any potential allies to fight a war against the murderous southern empire.

The Europeans would see the foe in terms similar to those real worl Europeans did, only a lot more powerful and not as ideologically fragile because of some prophesy.

Of course you’d have plagues etc and not just wars.

“re your

“Europe never had the massive executions and sacrifices that happened in South America.”
One would tend to disagree with that apparently unsupported assumption. Read Caesar`s and Roman histories wherein they wiped out entire Gaulic and Germanic tribes, men, women and children by the hundreds of thousands, executions & massacres.

The witless superstitions of humans worldwide resulted in a lot of scapegoating for crop failures and droughts and such. Oddly, the surviving nitwits never noticed that there's no connection between cutting someone's throat and the climate (even though modern liberal fans of Genghis Khan think there is).

The Aztecs had an insatiable appetite for the mass butchery of captives (the called their conflicts "Flower Wars", a really hippie-sounding take on it) in their effort to feed the Sun with blood. On the plaza in front of their big pyramid in Tenochtitlan they had a structure they called "the corncrib", and it was filled with the defleshed remains of approximately 250,000 victims.

My guess is and has been that, the carving out of such a large chunk of the Gallic population (mostly enslaved, some press-ganged into auxiliary service in other parts of the Empire) led to a centuries-long, probably fatal crisis as the Roman-era cooling of the climate led to mass migration along the steppe and into Europe.

Conspiracy!

The robots are covering up criminal evidence left by the space aliens.
