Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., will introduce legislation Wednesday aimed at making the nation's largest companies accountable to employees and their local communities, not just shareholders.
In an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal, Warren said companies in the late 20th Century started operating in a way that made them slaves to shareholders.
"That shift has had a tremendous effect on the economy," she wrote. "In the early 1980s, large American companies sent less than half their earnings to shareholders, spending the rest on their employees and other priorities."
"But between 2007 and 2016, large American companies dedicated 93% of their earnings to shareholders," Warren added.
She said that change has also prevented large companies from ensuring wage growth kept up with productivity growth.
She and that what’s-her-face Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have shown their very unique grasp of the world of economics.
Maybe the How to Count Socialism Act is more like it. I bet she doesn’t know the age old indian secret of planting indian corn, using fish.
I am beginning to think she and other academic “socialists” have a plan alright. It is to give themselves governmental power enough to set up a system where 52% are on welfare and 48% with skills are enslaved and made to work to support that “socialism” plan. Isn't that what President Obama wanted, as well? It will not work because it has never worked. It ends in death and destruction. One would think that people who have spent their lives living inside books would know that. Methinks that those who never apply what is written in those books do not know the consequences thereof. Of course, when the consequences roll in, as in Venezuela, it is too late.
Some enterprising young ^conservative^ member of Congress should introduce a bill pegging all government pensions to mirror the government’s *contribution* to the GDP.
:: So, where is the other 7%? ::
Never mind that, how is that even possible when the tax rate on earnings was 37%?
“Hey, shes not a communist. She said she is willing to allow private ownership as long as it serves the will of the state.”
That is Fascism in a nutshell.
Unfortunately, after years of corporations outsourcing, downsizing, cutting pensions and benefits, and eagerly propping-up a corrupt Congress and Deep State, Fauxahontas is going to find a receptive audience for this.
She couldn’t be more of an idiot if she tried.
If a hungry cannibal cracked her head open, there wouldn’t be enough inside to cover a small oyster cracker...
You’re pulling my leg. Cannibals don’t use oyster crackers.
