I changed my password. When I entered by new password for logging in, it rejected it.
What happened is that my password was too long, and it truncated when I changed. But it did not warn me.
I use a 'robot' for passwords, so I can have 'long passwords'.
I figured out how the password was truncated (the length it needed to be). When I truncated the password, the new password worked.
It is my opinion that the 'focus' software should have warned me that the password was too long.
He’s just alerting US to a problem-—he no longer has one.
.
Just always make your password the same as your username, then you have half as many things to remember!
Are you telling us your password is bigbob?
You are so screwed.
Are you logged in?
Did you stune your beeber?
I use Mozilla FireFox...
On a scale of 1-10 of severity, it is an 8.
Some of us are careful but not 'parnoid' about computer security...
LOL. No, ROFLOL.
Im a System Admin, an IT professional. I deal with password security all day, every day, government regulations, you name it.
Yeah, the password change page should have warned you about the upper length limit. I agree.
But come on, you solved your own problem in a matter of minutes without even losing your account.
On a scale of 1-10 severity, this is a 1.5 at best. Trust me on this.
And 20 years later, this site is STILL the best, simplest, fastest-responding, least-annoying, clear, easy to read... AND NO ADS!!!
A perfect example of KISS. FreeRepublics site is a thing of beauty.
You might try clearing the cache and restarting Firefox.

I clean the temp memory every day. No prob, except I don’t like my screen name very much. Oh well.
If you used long, robot generated passwords; where you store them?
If on a electronic device, what then if the device fails, is lost or destroyed?
(That holds true in English, anyway. Now, when you switch to Russian, you might want to consider using the longer password "collusion".)
I changed my once when I was hammered and typed over my tag line and thought my account had been hacked.
I’ve had the same password since inception.
You cant make me change it.
LOL! Yup, when I log into my Moscow Free Republic account (what would that be called? - Enslaved Socialists?) I’ll use ‘Collusion’ as my password.
You can use email to retrieve your password.
I had this problem about a year ago, and I am just now reporting it.
As someone else, it should warn you that the password you entered was too long, or tell you how long it can be.
I have 7 passwords for junk inside plus one to unlock the phone. Passwords are required to be changed every six months.
What is best way to store passwords?
