Just wanted to get some feedback from experienced shingle sufferers and those who have opted for the vaccine. For the record, I got the first of a series of two shots a couple of weeks ago. More lingering soreness than with just about any other vaccine.
Any reactions or did anyone suffer from shingles anyway?
Got it last fall. No problems.
Haven’t had shingles, either before or since.
All went well for mine. I guess everyone is different.
My arm hurt like HELL for a whole week!!!
I am NOT looking forward to shot #2.
Same here.
Mine didn’t hurt for that long, but the pharmacist told me to massage it. What?!
I heard there is a new type now? I got one about 2 years ago and aside from some site soreness, nothing else.
My wife had shingles and it was horrific. Got my shots, was sore, but still shingle free. Worth it.
-—got one 6-7 years ago and never even felt it-—
Husband got the ‘old’ shot about 5 years ago. He suffered periodically from shingles. He did get shingles this year, probably not as bad as he might have without the shot. We need to talk to doc about getting the ‘new’ shot.
Interesting that people here are getting 2 shots. Pretty sure he got one shot.
I got 1 shot, two yrs ago, and no after-effects.
Thank you for this thread. I need to figure out what I am going to do about shingles vaccine. I have a brother who had a sort of mild case of shingles. Also saw another relative go through several miserable months, suffering with it.
I got shingles several years ago unfortunately
The vaccine itself is fairly safe
Heard third hand of someone who got the shot and now has shingles.
I went in to get mine twice and both times no vaccine was available. I was told that there is a nation wide shortage due to a change in recommendation/coverage.
No longer.
I don't like the "science" used in the approvals.
I don't like the increase in the rates of autism.
So, I'm not a fan of the majority of vaccines available and required these days.
My doctor recommended waiting too. I trust his judgement.
Got mine and it hurt really bad and I had a large bruise for about 3 weeks. I went in to get my second one and they said that the manufacturer was behind on making the medicine. So I am waiting. My son got the shingles at 17 and it was horrible my mother-in-law got her shingles at 82 and it really bad. You don’t want the shingles it is very very painful. Medicare pays for it.
I received the first of the ‘new’ shot three months ago. Red area at the site of the injection lasted about a weak. A little soreness (more like a sunburn) but that was all.
