The New Jersey woman who lost her husband and four kids in a deadly wrong-way crash in Delaware earlier this month is calling on cops to press criminal charges.

This is horrible for this person, a person would be hard put to understand.
Now to the facts of the case. If there was no intent, or chargeable offense like drunk or drugged, playing a game or inattention due to sex going on, or cell phone usage, it was just an accident. We all will die someday, and a court case and jail time will not solve the problem of people being dead. It also will not prevent another such accident by this guy or another. Sometimes things just happen, like when a frozen airliner toilet load hits someone in their bed. Or someone falls asleep at the wheel. There is not always intent, or neglect. stuff actually does happen. Maybe this lady is the same one who held the sign up in London to protest Trump saying “WHY DOES STUFF KEEP ON HAPPENING”? IDK
That doesn't get you to probable cause, much less beyond a reasonable doubt.
Word of advice: A TV show may be the least reliable source of information ever invented in the history of mankind. Watching a cop show to learn about police work is like watching “Gilligan’s Island” to learn about ocean navigation.
I have an idea ... run over a truck tire and a bumper at a speed of 60+ miles per hour, then come back and tell us how easy it was to control your vehicle.
It took me all of about 1.5 seconds to google his name and see that Hubbard is a white guy.
He worked for Aledak Metalworks and was driving a company vehicle with the company logo on the side.
Thanks. That explains a lot. It’s the state’s fault, and they know it, unless toxicology (or just maybe, cell phone records) gives them something upon which to hang a prosecution. “New cable barriers coming to Delaware’s Route 1 after deadly crash”.
The cable barriers aren’t particularly good - they tried them here after some cross median head-ons. The ones I know about are being replaced by concrete or steel. The cable is a lot cheaper. It will help, but not solve, the problem.

It’s nice to keep opposite traffic from the other side, but what happens if they bounce off the barrier and go sideways into “same” traffic?
Solve one problem, create another.
Did they mention the kids weren’t wearing seat belts ? Feel terrible for the family but you need to take precautions when driving.

That's too easy. I've seen 16' foot ladders, washing machines, bumpers, wheels and 60lb pieces of truck retreads and vehicles spinning on their roofs on the freeways. Did I hit them? Hell no.

So let me get this straight ... you’re suggesting that someone should face criminal charges in a wreck just because they can’t match your driving wizardry when avoiding a washing machine falling off a truck?

No guarantees, but a whole lot less likely to be fatal. Certainly the energy at impact is going to be several multiples lower.

How so? An investigator at a crash scene will not immediately know which debris was on the road BEFORE the crash.
Probably not drunk - my first thought - but texting. That’s not that hard to determine, although phone companies are now refusing to release this data, so it might be slower. There was somebody else in the vehicle, too, so i assume they’re interviewing this person.
The mother is right, though; he obviously didn’t just have a mini-sleep at the wheel, such as somebody with diabetes or even just tiredness might have, but he wasn’t paying attention for one reason or another, possibly texting or possibly on the phone with his boss, or whatever. So that should be at least negligent homicide or some such thing. It makes other drivers a little more attentive, if nothing else.

What if there are 2 or 3 witness stating there was a washing machine in the middle of lane #2.
What if the debris is stuck in the grill of the vehicle involved?
Another reason is driving too fast for road conditions. Ie: Taking curves at 75 in a 45 and suddenly debris appears giving you no time to avoid it. Yet another reason is total distraction, not paying attention to your direction or travel, texting, looking down, using the phone, arguing with other occupants etc...
