Panicked Twinkies lovers lost their minds when Hostess shut down in 2012. Thankfully, the company made a swift and sweet comeback, with an assist by TODAY's Al Roker, in 2013. But now another classic sweets factory has shuttered and it's unclear whether it will be bouncing back anytime soon. Necco, the maker of divisive, chalky treats, has bitten the dust and closed its factory on Tuesday. This week, devoted fans of all of the company's sweets are scrambling to find their favorite treats amid the sudden closure

“Divisive”?
Guess I need to go to the candy store and stock up.
I am pretty sure those things will last indefinitely.
Some of the wafers were white?
Divisive?

Maybe they are contemplating the two camps when it comes to Necco wafers:
You either hate them or you hate them.
I love Necco! Sure hope someone keeps making them (and doesn’t change the recipe)
They’re kinda bland.
Now Jolly Ranchers, THAT would be a loss!
Good friend printed their labels for years until retiring. Revere still has Kelly’s on the beach for sorrows to be drowned in some of the world’s best fried clams.
Necco wafers make dandy little targets for 22lr or pellet guns. I love using food products as targets in the woods, since there’s no cleanup needed. For bigger guns or farther away old tortillas work great. And shooting up old produce is always fun.
My movie candy of choice when I was a kid growing up. I think that was just because my parents were cheap, but maybe I just loved how you could make a pack of Necco last all the way through a showing of Old Yeller, Mary Poppins, or a Batman serial. I always paced myself to be sure I still had some candy toward the end of the movie. I couldn’t do that with Sugar Babies, which just kind of disappeared.
Horrible candy. Haven’t had any since I was a child, and then only because it was all Grandma had in the candy dish when we went to visit.
Dunno why I liked these things as a kid, Its like chalk, food coloring and a smidge of sugar.
Dreadful things LOL but, they gave you a bunch!
No JuJu Bee’s?
Wish they would have done more grouping of colors. I like the separate chocolate but would have liked to be able to have rolls of licorice and/or pink.
Ya love ‘em or hate ‘em.
Do they still make the big Jolly Rancher bars? They made good weapons.
What was that POS Peanut butter chew in the Orange Wrapper?
It was OK till they Invented Reeses, And it was lame compared to hot roasted peanuts, Hot roasted Chex mix, Hot Donuts and cider, Warm cookies, Popcorn balls.. and smashing pumpkins!
Granny did not have any 5 year old ribbon candy? LOL
Smarties are WAY better.
