Now that I watched the video I see the shooting was justified.

The pusher was huge and menacing and had no reason to shove him since the shooter was just yelling at the inconsiderate chick.

So you have a large, aggressive black male that clearly shows he believes rules and regulations don’t apply to him because he parks in a handicapped parking spot and he physically assaults a smaller man making a legitimate protest.Sounds like a righteous shoot to me and the Sheriff agrees. Keeping the 21 foot rule in mind, the aggressor was well within range to continue his assault at his discretion. Drawing his weapon and hesitating would have provided an opportunity to agressor disarm the victim of the assault.

Nobody looks good here. The shooter goes around habitually looking for trouble. The girlfriend illegally parked in a handicapped space then argued about it when it was pointed out. The deceased turned a mere verbal argument into a physical confrontation.

Simply do not lay your hands on others. You have no idea what they’re capable of. Had the boyfriend just told the shooter off and flipped him the middle finger while driving off, he’d be enjoying life today laughing about the A-hole in the parking lot.

No heroes in this story. Law breaking, violent feral vs. hotheaded white guy with a CCW permit and a history of confrontation. The tiebreaker goes to the white guy because of the violent assault by the feral and the likelihood the white guy was going to be further assaulted had he not dispatched the animal. Only upside is no more baby mamas being inseminated by the sperm donor.

IMO, the fault lies with handicap parking ordinances. Discriminating parking spots for “the privileged” is why there was an argument to start with.

This whole scene is so unfortunate but it does not happen if every parking spot is considered free and equal.

I did not get a CCW to let some asshole shove me around. While I would never have done what the shooter did simply because I have to be especially aware of a needless confrontation, If a person comes at me in a physically threatening manner I will shoot him. I have no need to wait for him to do physical harm!!

Here's a gif of the only important part of the encounter:

1) When the boyfriend comes out of the store the girlfriend gets out of the car and in the face of the guy outside her car.

2) This distracts the guy so that he never sees the assailant/boyfriend charging him and he is slammed to the ground with no warning and with such force that it was a miracle that his head wasn't whip-lashed into the pavement.

3) Civilians are trained not to draw their gun until the are justified in using it - and not for holding someone at bay. So for a civilian, drawing a weapon and shooting it are one continuous action.

4) So the question is what was the assailant/boyfriend doing when the assaulted guy drew his weapon. After so violently slamming the guy to the ground he was hovering and advancing with his girlfriend also still standing near the guy from another direction. The assailant/boyfriend didn't stop moving forward till the gun was already drawn - and it was too late.

It was fully reasonable for the guy (even if he was a loudmouthed idiot) to fear further violence - that could "imminently result in his death or serious bodily harm."

Since handicapped spaces are required for retail, why not fine people based upon parking there without a handicapped placard & use the video from the security cameras to give them the ticket?
