CLEARWATER, Fla. Hundreds from around Tampa Bay marched with the family of the Clearwater man fatally shot over a parking spot.
Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri says the shooting was justified under Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law. The deadly shooting at a convenience store in unincorporated Clearwater occurred Thursday.
Sgt. Spencer Gross of the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office tells ABC Action News the shooting stemmed from an argument over a parking spot.
Deputies said Michael Drejka, of Clearwater, confronted a woman who parked in a handicapped parking space outside the Circle A Food Store on Sunset Point Road.
Witnesses told deputies the two were arguing because Drejka was upset the woman parked there even though she wasn't handicapped. The woman's boyfriend, Markeis McGlockton, of Clearwater, was inside the store to buy his little boy a candy bar, according to the store owner.
McGlockton exited the store to defend his girlfriend and shoved Drejka to the ground.
Drejka responded by taking out a pistol and shooting McGlockton in the chest. McGlockton ran back into the store where his five-year-old son was standing at the front door, watching the entire incident happen right before his eyes. McGlockton fell to the ground inside of the store and he was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Investigators say multiple people witnessed the shooting and called 911.
Drejka is a legal concealed weapons permit holder and will not be charged because of Florida's Stand Your Ground law, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

So when the guy knocks you down, and your dizzy from the vicious assault, and he backs up to get a running start for a vicious head kick, or moves to circle you to slam you head from behind, you wouldn’t shoot. Very Good. Good for you.
Apparently you have never seen a fight.
I saw a guy get sucker punched. His glasses driven into his face, a bloody mess. The attacker then backed off, circled, looking for the second shot to the face, and then took it, smashing his nose and crushing it to the side of his face. You could hear the bones in his face fracture. It was one of the most brutal things I have ever seen in my life.
You have no clue how these attacks can play out.
What did the police chief say?
Good catch on the auto spell error. Can you proof read my other comments, please? I’ll send them to blackberry and credit you. Thanks.
Some seem to suggest that even if the fella's teeth were splayed all over the ground from the kick that the thug was clearly setting up for, and the girlfriend's high heel was grinding into his right eye while he lay there choking on his own blood, that he had no right to shoot as long as the thugs were taking a step back when they saw the gun...
When he gets in town, Al Sharpton could probably get this up to first degree, premeditated murder.
And Eric Holder would be starting a DOJ investigation.....ah the memories of a corrupt racist administration.
Maybe a beat-down would have learned the gun-toting little pr*ck.
Instead, the Left gets to gleefully smear us law-abiding gun owners over this loose cannon's cr@p.
Anybody quotes Captain Redlegs
Well I think you know where Im headed
... yes, waiting for, and then enduring the destruction of the face and brain, it’s no justification to get all violent. Thats just mean.
With or without a full investigation?
“You have no clue how these attacks can play out.”
What was missing in your account? Where the guy attacked pulled a gun and the other guy started backing off! Watch the video. The black guy was NOT trying to continue the fight.
I’ve pulled a gun. I didn’t shoot immediately, and ended up walking away. But then, I’ve never gone looking for a fight. Unlike the white butthead in this.
“450 pounds of stompy foot is some deadly force.”
Except it wasn’t being used. By your standard, ANY big guy could be shot.
Just based on the information he had as someone who know more than us?
That last line of yours is precisely the point
I never knew so many folks use see CCW as such an end all just over an ass whipping
And that wasnt even an ass whipping
We have no way of knowing but in frontier days when a lot of people carried for protection and hunting etc was it acceptable to pull your pistol or lever action rifle and kill someone for pushing you down
Would the authorities rule a justifiable kill?
I have watched that video over and over
And now we find out this guy was reported brandishing over a moving traffic dispute recently and reported to the cops
I wonder how he feels now..
He got his kill
One note overlooked to a degree here
He shot thst man right in front of his five year old.....
Ive pulled my gun in my life several times actually both in hot zones and in the USA
I never fired it here.....but they knew I would so they retreated
When I first came here Id watch folks say if you pull your guns out must use it...that Is poppycock
“Markeis McGlockton, of Clearwater, was inside the store to buy his little boy a candy bar”
and
“McGlockton ran back into the store where his five-year-old son was standing at the front door, watching the entire incident happen right before his eyes”
They left out “It was a dark and stormy night.”
Correct. Any big guy who slams a smaller man into the ground, initiating the violence, he is risking his life. Period. Because people have been killed by getting slammed into the ground, hitting their head. Its an act of violence, and an indication that more is going to follow.
Next time a cop pulls you over, get out of the car and slam him into the ground and see what happens. Act surprised when he slams 6 bullets into your chest.
At this point in time, and since he wasn’t an eyewitness, he knows just as much as you or I.
