Welcome to the Meghalayan Age - a new phase in history
BBC ^ | 18 July 2018 | Jonathan Amos

Posted on 07/19/2018 8:07:53 AM PDT by BenLurkin

The Meghalayan...runs from 4,200 years ago to the present. It began with a destructive drought, whose effects lasted two centuries, and severely disrupted civilisations in Egypt, Greece, Syria, Palestine, Mesopotamia, the Indus Valley, and the Yangtze River Valley.

The Meghalayan Age is unique among the many intervals of the geologic timescale in that its beginning coincides with a global cultural event produced by a global climatic event...

The middle phase of the Holocene will be referred to as the Northgrippian, and runs from 8,300 years ago up to the start of the Meghalayan. The onset for this age was an abrupt cooling, attributed to vast volumes of freshwater from melting glaciers in Canada running into the North Atlantic and disrupting ocean currents.

The oldest phase of the Holocene - the exit from the ice age - will be known as the Greenlandian.

...

For the Meghalayan, the spike is epitomised in a perturbation in the types, or isotopes, of oxygen atoms present in the layers of a stalagmite growing from the floor of Mawmluh Cave in the northeastern state of Meghalaya in India. This two-step change is a consequence of weakening monsoon conditions.

"The isotopic shift reflects a 20-30% decrease in monsoon rainfall,"

"The two most prominent shifts occur at about 4,300 and about 4,100 years before present, so the mid-point between the two would be 4,200 years before present, and this is the age that we attribute to the [Meghalayan golden spike]," he told BBC News.

Already the decision to discriminate ages within the Holocene has drawn fire from some scientists who believe the move is premature. They question whether some of the climate shifts used as anchors for the new ages were truly global in their impact.

When I read the headline I immediately thought it was referring to a new age in which the most highly revered intellects would be Meghan McCain and Meghan Kelley, and our futures would be dictated by blond bimbos working in pairs; perhaps in leather outfits. Just sayin’.

Way back before the leftists’ god told us “We are no longer a Christian nation”, this was called the Postdiluvian Age.

Wasn’t there a big flood just before all this global warming started?

Maybe it was just exceptionally high humidity.

“See, see! Globull warming.”

Get ready. Globul warming will now be grafted onto history as the cause of the late bronze age collapse. Sorry Sea Peeps.

...

We’re actually still in an ice age. Our current period is an interglacial, which, remarkably, is cooler than the last interglacial.

Never before in the history of earth has there ever been a nation known as Palestine....

I actually had this "discussion" with a family member. They insisted, "It's in the Bible." I asked, "Who ruled over the nation of Palestine and when?"

The reference to "Palestine" has always been a regional geographic location. Palestinians resided in the region. It would be like calling "The Southwest" a nation and lobbying for "Southwesterners" to have their own Country. Arguably, part of the South West could include part of Mexico. How you gonna manage that mess redrawing boarders that encroach on two countries?

Ah, then that would explain the disappearance of the Saharan Forest.

Exactly...The people called “Palestinians” are actually Jordanians, Egyptians, Syrians, Iraqis, and Lebanese who lived in the area known as Palestine...

Thing is, it’s easy to research and see that fallacy in the “stolen land” claim that the left and Euroweenies decry.
