New York City’s rat problem is getting worse

Rats prefer the neighborhoods of Harlem, the Upper West Side, and Bedford-Stuyvesant — and they really like to party in the summer, a new study shows.

Citywide, the rat population grew about 10 percent from 2016 to 2017 based on complaints filed to 311, the RentHop study released on Tuesday shows.

When you have feral animals living in your city who are too freakin' lazy to find a trash can to deposit their trash, you're gonna have rats. I am not surprised by the increase in the 4 legged kind, as it follows the increase in illegals. I can't tell you how many times I've seen 3rd World illegals just let go of their empty cigarette packaging, drink cup, drink bottle, etc. wherever they happen to be. You should see the shoreline of Willow Lake in Queens. Lots of cellophane floating and other trash left over by the illegals who play soccer in the park and barbecue there on weekends.

If your apartment isn’t too high up, just get a BB gun, sit out on your balcony, and hunt over bait. This can be endlessly entertaining. It probably wouldn’t make any difference in the rat population, though.

BB guns typically won’t kill a rat. Need to step up to a pellet gun or a very high power BB gun.

When I read this stuff I’m reminded of a show I watched about these guys who shoot rats in Great Britain and make a living off it. They use suppressed air rifles with scopes and night vision and they shoot hundreds a night. The rats never hear it coming so they don’t scatter. It was like shooting fish in a barrel.

It amazed me how they were picking the rats off one by one and the rats just kept walking around like nothing was going on. There was a whole line of rats going across a wall and these guys just kept picking them off and the rats just kept coming.
