A lost city dating to the rule of King David from the Old Testament has been uncovered in Jerusalem. King David is an ancestor of Jesus, according to biblical sources, which say he ruled around BC 1,000. Experts say that recently-found ruins date to the 10th century BC. This ties in with the timeframe for when the bible says King David existed, making the link between the two 'plausible', researchers claim. The finding is likely to fuel the debate surrounding whether Biblical figures such as King David actually existed, however.

Joseph was of the Royal line through Solomon. The Royal line had a blood curse, (Jeconiah or Coniah,) that no of his seed would sit on the throne of David. Marys line is not the Royal line and does not have the blood curse. Jesus is Josephs first son through adoption, and can claim the throne of David while he is also a descendant of David through Mary.
Thanks rdl6989.
Both Rahab the Jericho prostitute an Ruth the Moabitess are great Grandmothers of David, and by extension the forebears of Jesus.
Yup
2Abraham was the father of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers. 3Judah was the father of Perez and Zerah by Tamar, Perez was the father of Hezron, and Hezron the father of Ram. 4Ram was the father of Amminadab, Amminadab the father of Nahshon, and Nahshon the father of Salmon. 5Salmon was the father of Boaz by Rahab, Boaz was the father of Obed by Ruth, and Obed the father of Jesse.
6Jesse was the father of David the king.
David was the father of Solomon by Bathsheba who had been the wife of Uriah. 7Solomon was the father of Rehoboam, Rehoboam the father of Abijah, and Abijah the father of Asa. 8Asa was the father of Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat the father of Joram, and Joram the father of Uzziah. 9Uzziah was the father of Jotham, Jotham the father of Ahaz, and Ahaz the father of Hezekiah. 10Hezekiah was the father of Manasseh, Manasseh the father of Amon, and Amon the father of Josiah. 11Josiah became the father of Jeconiah and his brothers, at the time of the deportation to Babylon.
12After the deportation to Babylon: Jeconiah became the father of Shealtiel, and Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel. 13Zerubbabel was the father of Abihud, Abihud the father of Eliakim, and Eliakim the father of Azor. 14Azor was the father of Zadok, Zadok the father of Achim, and Achim the father of Eliud. 15Eliud was the father of Eleazar, Eleazar the father of Matthan, and Matthan the father of Jacob.
16Jacob was the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, by whom Jesus was born, who is called the Messiah.Matthew 1:2-16 NASB
Look at the scumbags we have had as President over the last 25 years prior to Trump
Its no surprise given that Bush x 2, Clinton and Obama worship Satan
IRK, especially since the first Christians started out life as Jews; at least I think they did.
Ruth —> Obed —> Jessie —> David
Actually there is a connection. Matthew has the bloodline of Joseph, and contains Jechonias who the prophets said that none of his descendants would sit on the throne of Judea.
Luke has the geneaology of Mary going back to an obscure son of David, Nathan.
Wow! More Palestinian ruins found in Israel!!
LOL I kill me sometimes.
Not so fast. Mary was in the line of David thru David’s eldest son Nathan (eldest while David was King of Israel). Joseph was also in the line of David thru Solomon, David’s second son while King of Israel. Documented in Matthew and Luke.
Not true. There is absolutely no mention of Mary in Luke or Matthew. Tell us what verse. If fact— it is expressly the linage of Joseph to David or David to Joseph AND that is totally irrelevant to anything.
Waste of pearls, I think. Matt. 7:6.
Yes....
The angel stories in Matthew are in reference to Joseph.
The angel stories in Luke deal with Mary.
Since this the birth narrative, it is reasonable that the Marian focus is paramount in the entire birth narrative in Luke.
Also, fwiw, Nathan was the younger full brother of Solomon via David & Bathsheba. So, in either instance, it was the designated kingly line. Solomon’s line, however, led to Jeconiah who was prophetically stripped of the kingship and any of his descendants.
So you’re saying Joseph married his COUSIN!!?? (Well, second cousin, 200 times removed or something.)
I am amazed by the inability of many to actual read. Luke 3:23 is NOT about Mary!!! I have heard that nonsense out of the institutional church all my life and it is absolutely not the case. It is very simple read so here it is:
“23 Now Jesus himself was about thirty years old when he began his ministry. He was the son, so it was thought, of Joseph,
the son of Heli, 24 the son of Matthat,
the son of Levi, the son of Melki,
the son of Jannai, the son of Joseph,
25 the son of Mattathias, the son of Amos,
the son of Nahum, the son of Esli,
the son of Naggai, 26 the son of Maath,
the son of Mattathias, the son of Semein,
the son of Josek, the son of Joda,
27 the son of Joanan, the son of Rhesa, etc.!!
Jesus was not the Son of Joseph!! That is an error. The linage is NOT THE SAME at stated in Matthew 1 — so one of them is in error ( if not both) and Luke states the linage of JOSEPH!!! not Mary.. Did you know that Jesus is the “Son of God” and if you don’t accept that as true. you do not have eternal life. ?
