The ratings for Sunday nights telecast of the 90th annual Academy Awards collapsed by a whopping 16 percent, which would mean an all-time low, according to early estimates.
Variety reports that the 8 p.m.-11 p.m. portion of ABCs telecast averaged an 18.9 household rating and 32 share in Nielsens metered market overnight ratings Thats down about 16% from the 22.5/37 rating generated by the 2017 Oscars.
According to Deadline, the 18.9 appears to be an all-time low for the Oscars, below the previous low ratings point for the Oscars, logged with the 2008 telecast (21.9).
The ratings will be updated once all the numbers are in,But if past is prologue, those numbers will not change much either way.

Who’s this Oscar guy?
Who on the “right” watches this crap from the hedonists of America all praising themselves for playing fake roles day in and day out, AND then think we should listen to them pontificate to fly-over America about “our values”?
Who would watch a bunch of narcissistic America-haters walk around with a convincing, but false smile and congratulate each other for bringing this country down?
Watched the first 30 min.
But Kimmel really sucked. IMO.
One positive spin that could possibly be applied is that this is evidence mental illness is on the decline. Maybe there’s hope...though these numbers should still be 90% lower.
Oscar DelaRentMe.................
Had they had ANYBODY but KIBBLE, they would have had +16%.................
Kimmel isn’t talented. He is merely anointed.
I’m glad that Gary Oldman got the best actor for Churchill (read about it not watched). Stellar performance. Bought the DVD.
As I posted on 2/28:
Out of touch millionaires slapping each other on the back and handing out trophies for best work in fantasy. Where do I sign up to watch that?......NOT.
Back in the old Hollywood days of the Studio Bosses, When actors were under contracts, there was no politics in the Oscars and for very good reason.
The second you open your mouth on any subject, politically, there goes HALF OF YOUR AUDIENCE AND THEIR MONEY!............
Did Jar Jar Binks win this year?
Hes my favorite actor.
I heard he was in The Color Of Water or whatever its called.
I saw 4 woman describe what movies mean..not one talked about good stories.. if every movie is about changing our political life our world of movies become boring..movies are fun I like a couple hours of entertainment that make me feel life not politics... If political spiritual meanings are all what movies are today I’m out...why has one sided movie politics become the one way stream
The politics is very bad; but, they don't care 'cause they know better (like Jennifer Lawrence who dropped out of MIDDLE SCHOOL). But, the real problem is the movies themselves. Who wants to see this crap?
The Shape of Water? Are you kidding me? Creature from the Black Lagoon was known as a B movie. Now we are giving Oscars to the remake? Gay movies, with gay sex scenes are not going to go over for most of the United States audience. The movies that Americans go to see, which at this point are few and far between, never get recognition from these people.
Hollywood has become an irrelevancy, and they did it to themselves, rather like the NFL. No one goes to these movies anymore. No one wants any of these movies in their personal collection at home. They couldn't give copies of these movies away.
except for the millionaires part, everything else is the same as you said:
1) Don’t care to see a bunch of hypocritical Hollywood leftists.
2) Saw ‘Three Billboards’, what a joke. Critics slobbering over a muddled mess of a film. Can no one write a simple story anymore? Who wants to watch awards going to a bunch of (at best) mediocre films.
Nobody in ou home ever watches the Oscars. As a matter of fact, we would rather view foreign films now , than any prpaganda out of Hollywood. We no longer go to the US cinema, we mostly watch international movies and documentaries on Netflix.
When did we start that policy? When Broke Back Mountain came out, we decided we would rather preserve the tradition of John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, and the old Westerns. Real Cowboys rock!
Hollywood propaganda sucks.
