While Sen. Orrin Hatch expressed his shock Monday that most of his Democratic colleagues could vote against the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, it wasnt just Democrats who opposed the measure.
Two Republican senators joined Democrats in voting against the 20-week abortion ban: Sens. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine.
Meanwhile, Sens. Joe Donnelly of Indiana, Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Bob Casey of Pennsylvaniaall Democratsvoted in favor of the ban on abortions at the point which unborn babies can feel pain, with certain exceptions such as rape, incest and to save the mothers life.
With a vote of 51-46 in favor of the ban, it failed to reach the 60 votes required to advance to a final vote.
Murkowski said in a statement that she opposes late-term abortions but said the bill didnt contain sufficient protections for women and imposes unreasonable and unrealistic requirements in certain instances.
President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence expressed their disappointment with the filibuster.
SIGN THE PETITION! Congress Must Ban Late-Term Abortions
It is disappointing that despite support from a bipartisan majority of U.S. senators, this bill was blocked from further consideration, Trump said in a statement.
I am disappointed that tonight, 46 Senators voted against a motion that would have respected the majority of Americans convictions- including those of @POTUS Trump- by refusing to advance a bill that would restrict abortions on babies when they are capable of feeling pain, Pence tweeted.
Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham, the bills chief sponsor, promised the Senate would not give up on the effort.
To those who believe in this issue, we will be back for another day, he said.
Youre on the right side of history. Youre where America will be. Its just a matter of time before we get there, he said of his colleagues who supported the measure.
The usual suspects.
But let someone “hurt” one of their kids....at any age
Two stupid cows.
>>with certain exceptions such as rape, incest
Why??? They would still have 20 weeks to “choose”! Is that to cover buyer’s remorse “rape”.
How is it ever that Joe Manchin is considered a moderate Democrat? He votes the same as upchuck Schumer.

Joe is a sell out!
Is it too late to abort Sens. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine? Just asking.
Aren't they both professing roman Catholics?
What kind of priest to they go to?
This was 100% a safe vote for every one of them. It never had a chance of getting to 60, which is why it got as far as it did. Those who needed to burnish their pro life bona fides in an election year, got to do just that. Yay. Democracy. Woohoo. Great. The bill was sponsored by the brave Senator Lindsey Graham. So very brave. S.C. should feel good about continuing to send him to Washington. Great.

If they really wanted to, Senate Republicans would nuke the filibuster and pass Ron Paul's 2005 Sanctity of Life Act.
The Sanctity of Life Act completely removes abortion from federal purview, meaning it automatically returns to the states and no federal judge can strike down a state's abortion law ever again.
I'm afraid most of the pro-life movement has become nothing more than a fundraising and GOTV arm of the GOP.
One of them — a Catholic.
The Usual Suspects.....
These two need DESTROYED, every effort needs to be made to get these two GONE....
Would love to see Sarah Palin challenge Murkowski in the next GOP primary.
Don’t let Bob Casey’s vote fool you. He only voted that way most likely because he knew it wouldn’t pass and wanted to appease the Pennsylvania voters who in this state are overwhelmingly pro life. He’s up for re-election this year.
If they got to the 60 vote point, he’d vote no. He’s sheeple for Chucky Schumer...
“Motherly” instinct....
