Walmart was set to face a discrimination lawsuit Friday after a woman claimed African American hair products were locked behind glass at a California store.

Famed attorney Gloria Allred held an afternoon news conference Friday.

"It was something I had to stand up for," the mom said. "I would like the glass to go down, and for things to go back to the way it was, where it's not segregated and everything is where everyone can get what they need."

When I lived in the filthy sh*thole city of Filthadlphia, I would find hair weaves on the streets. The victims can go weaving like the shopping cart brothers go canning for recyclables.

A white woman should file a suit for the exact same reasons...why should black hair products get special protected treatment ?

Retail economics;

Lock up the stuff that gets stolen the most.

People steal it all the time.

And yet I can remember a time when newspapers were in a wire rack with an open coin cup on top.

It’s not about race it’s about loss prevention

The net effect for me is that they won't make a sale.

I REFUSE to wait for someone to unlock a product I want.

"It was something I had to stand up for," the mom said. "I would like the glass to go down, and for things to go back to the way it was, where it's not segregated and everything is where everyone can get what they need."

Two fallacies.

First, she can still get it. Just because it's behind a glass case, doesn't mean it's not available FOR SALE.

It just means it's not available for stealing.

Second, they don't NEED it. They want it.

I am offended that there are hair products specifically for African American hair. Where’s the Caucasian hair products?

PS: That should have also told her that her sisters and brothers are shoplifters.

Bullsh-t. Yuge majorities of all races—White, Black, Hispanic, Asian, etc.—don't routinely engage in crimes—including shoplifting.

You're painting with a broad, un-Christian brush...

Years ago Breck was a wonderful shampoo. Most of their models were done profile. Was this a later ad?

Lets see - my question is this: was the product class in question being stolen at a rate greater than other products? Was it a matter of either stop carrying said products (because of the loss), or keep it locked up to keep it from disappearing? If so - then what, exactly is discriminatory - unless the case is about discriminating against THIEVES???

Poor pitiful lady with her head all ascrew thinking of ways to claim the racist card.

She shouldn't claim that card. Unfortunately, judging by several of the responses on this thread, this Black lady isn't the only one happy to have the "racist card" in their deck...

The fact is, only a minuscule percentage of all races routinely commit crimes, including shoplifting. So just as this hysterical Black lady was painting with a broad brush, many posters on this thread are eager to reciprocate...

I was at CVS last weekend to pick up a prescription, and i noticed they had the men’s shower gels locked up. Years ago, when my son was small, I went to buy baby formula and the store had that locked up. I guess, through experience, they lock up whatever some people like to steal.
