A Missouri teenager has been charged with child porn possession after his father found pictures of a nude toddler on his cellphone.
According to KTVI, Paul Spensberger found the images after confiscating his son Andrew Spensberger's, cellphone. He had taken the device away as punishment.
Advertisement He reported the images to police on Dec. 30.
The O'Fallon Missouri Police Department says the images were of a 2-year-old girl, a relative of Paul Spensberger's girlfriend.
Andrew Spensberger reportedly took the pictures while the child was asleep on the floor of his bedroom.
Andrew told investigators he was planning to sell the images to a classmate he suspects is a pedophile. He thought he would be able to get $330 for the pictures.
The teen was taken to the St. Charles County jail. Bail was set at $10,000 cash.
Paul Spensberger told DailyMail.com that he was "disgusted" by the images and felt he had no choice but to contact the police.
"He feels like s---. He feels remorse and he is scared, he's facing time in prison. I could go and get him but he needs to learn," he said.
Did you have to walk 20 miles through the snow, uphill both ways, to get to it?
“Any dependent child under 18 needs their phone examined on a regular basis by a parent. Period.”
Any parent of a dependent child who provides his kid with a smart phone needs to have his head examined too. Period.
First time, no police and some seriously tough love.
NO phone, house arrest for 90 days, NO adultless contact with younger children, daily prayer and talks about morality, extra chores. Counseling?
A second time would be a tough one...
I agree. We are not told the young man’s age. Mid teens don’t understand the implications. Just like all the girls who are winding up in court from texting pictures to their boyfriends.
That’s the parents job to put things in context. This is a serious bad and could impact your whole life. You need to realize what happens to children when they get exploited, its a slippery slope etc. There need to be consequence but more along the lines of your post, not being entered into the justice system.
Totally agree with you, not only that but the phone was probably in his father name, and the father was paying the monthly bill on it, and the father would not know whether any of the pics had been viewed by any one else through an email the son might have sent to his friends.
First of all Mongrel, I’m not “crying” about anything.
To me, it would be more merciful for a father to take his son out into the woods and shoot him. Then, bury him real deep.
You must not have a son or you don’t understand “sex offender” punishment.
As a father, and in this specific situation, I care only about my son, NOT the world at large.
It was his first offense. Now, second offense, I would have walked him in the police station myself. And, he is only 17 years old.
I agree with you that an ADULT “taking pics of a nude baby girl then “attempting” to sell them” is a serious offense.
I don’t agree that “Daddy” was “legally” obligated to take his 17 year old to the cops ONLY because that is a complex “legal” question given the kids age, 1st offense etc etc.
I really think there is more to this story than is being told.
Were it my 17 year old SON, as I have stated, on this thread, I would have demanded intense therapy and severe but reasonable disciplines. On a “second offense”, all bets would be off and I would take him to jail myself.
My gosh...if his friend is a pedophile, he needs help, not a picture...
Oh really? I hate repeating myself but in your case I will. Dealing with CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IS A FELONY OFFENSE and MUST be reported to the authorities.
Child pornography is an underground internet business consisting of both predators who sell their wares of exploited children (the 17 year old we are discussing) to those who revel in such depravity.
With the arrest of this child molester, the police may or may not discover that he has internet contact with the dark side that deals with this perversion. Hopefully it will.
A daddy/son and therapist conversation will never reveal this info to the proper authorities.............
Just curious, would you be so forgiving if this 17 year old kid was accumulating bomb making material in order to sell it to a fellow classmate who he thought was an ISIS follower?
I agree with what you’ve posted. What do we have laws against child pornography for, if not to prosecute a person who takes pictures of a naked baby intending to sell them to someone who finds naked babies sexually stimulating?
If it were one of my sons ... Sorry, this isn’t just a stupid mistake, pay your ticket, build Mr. Carter a new shed, etc. The important thing is to stop the abuse of an infant.
...........with regard to your last statement/question first, I would not be “forgiving”................but, otherwise, IF IT WERE MY SON, yes I would do EVERYTHING I Could to save him from what amounts to total destruction.
Again, this is IF he were only 17 and ONLY IF it was a first offense.
I would always give MY SON the benefit of the doubt and be loyal to him IN A FIRST OFFENSE CIRCUMSTANCE AT 17 YEARS OLD. I’m sorry that concept escapes you. I feel the vast majority of fathers would agree with me, not you.
With regard to your assertion about “Dealing with Child Pornography.............” There is no question you r right and I agree with you 100%...................when It’s an ADULT.
I was in the Marine Corps at seventeen.
I am sorry Iif the two concepts of adulthood and protecting two year olds are beyond your mental and moral capacity.
You are in every possible respect a perfect example of the sort of parents we read threads about who’s late spawn are usually described as “up and coming rappers” who were “putting their life together”.
Sir, I have a long standing policy of not responding to name callers. Good day.
You tried to dish it out inappropriately, Mister Dinsee Nuffin.
It applies to you and your hypothetical son Dindu.
I really don’t give a crap about what some filthy scumbucket , who openly advocates shielding child pornographers from the law thinks about anything. Any veneer of politeness a shitbag who thinks it’s great that they won’t snitch on their family (hell the victim is a toddler, what does a two year old matter) is a film of oil on a cesspool anyhow.
Hah. Using harsh language is so mean. Coming from you, given what you defend, the irony is striking.
Slink away, Dinsee.
You don’t know the kids background. Could be a punk and not some “one time screw up”
Ok went and saw the guys photo. Definitely not a ‘teen.’ Kid has serious facial hair. Likely involved in far more than what’s on his phone. Get a Search warrant for his computer and lap top too.
I think the Dad did the right thing.
Stuck in N’Olans said: -—You dont know the kids background. Could be a punk and not some one time screw up-—
Exactly. That’s why I put in my original post the following:
“My opinion is the father should have straightened him out on his own.
Maybe he lost control years ago, I dont know.”
Sir, many of us on FR won’t respond to incoherent, name calling posts. This includes me. Reading your post, you clearly need help.
maybe, or in prison the kid gets rapped every day until someone kills him because he is a convicted pedophile - caring parent?
