The artifact originally belonged to the “governor of the city” of Jerusalem – the most prominent local position to be held in Jerusalem of 2700 years ago. According to the excavator, Dr. Shlomit Weksler-Bdolah, "the Bible mentions two governors of Jerusalem, and this finding thus reveals that such a position was actually held by someone in the city some 2700 years...

Please point me to examples of documents or seals that are contemporary with the period of David and Solomon and that corroborate the biblical account of their rules. Seriously, I would love to be proven wrong.

.
Just follow the links that I posted.

There are scores od seals, signets, and personal communications directly associated with David right there in the depths of the digs at his city.

jalisco555: "There have been structures from the period but no documents or seals.
No contemporary mentions of David or Solomon.
The closest mention of David’s name was around a century after the period."

editor-surveyor to jalisco555: "Total ignorant falsehood!"

editor-surveyor to freepertoo:

"Temple Mount dig, Muslim & Byzantine periods 6 minutes.

Temple Mount dig, 1st Temple, King Hezekiah period 7 minutes.

Temple Mount dig, 1st Temple, King Hezekiah / Jeremiah / Roman / 2nd Temple, 43 minutes

Temple Mount, 1st Temple, King Hezekiah, 9 minutes

Temple Mount, 1st & 2nd Temple, 12 minutes

Temple Mount, after 1st Temple destruction, 2 minutes

Roman period, 4 minutes

Reports on wonderful work & finds in the City of David from late 1st Temple period, but nothing about Kings David or Solomon.
jalisco555 is correct, so far.

"They actually found two of David’s seals."

Not mentioned in your links above, so I did some googling and found recent mentions.
However, all the links I could find (i.e., Jerusalem Post) are too clunky to use, and near as I can tell, they're talking about recent finds of King David era seals.

Of course, there is a King David stela from Tel Dan, circa 800 BC, found in 1993.
