[history]
Theres been no shortage of reasons to be afraid in 2017, a year marked by political upheaval, natural disasters, and national tragedies across the board. Yet, contrary to what you might expect, audiences turned out in droves to get an added dose of terror from killer clowns, possessed dolls, and whatever other creepy creations filmmakers conjured up for audiences. Dont get me wrong, its not a surprise to see horror do well. The oft-ignored genre has long been a reliable, affordable backbone of the film industry despite the ritual shunning come awards season, but even with that in mind, 2017 has been a truly stunning year for horror. Its a year of six Stephen King adaptations, when an outright horror film has a shot at a best picture nomination, and when the box office soared to become the biggest, highest-grossing year for horror of all time.

Without horror movies (where the audiences are comprised overwhelmingly of teenagers and young adults), this would have been a far more disastrous year at the box office. Based on what I calculated from the box office charts, horror movies grossed $490 million more in 2017 than 2016 (and increase of 53 million tickets) at the domestic office.
Considering the major increase in horror movie ticket sales, it's likely that movies that appeal to older, and more conservatives viewers likely did much worse in 2017 than 2016.

I will not watch modern horror movies. I believe they destroy the human soul.
I liked the old 50’s era flying saucer type of sci-fi and also the old 1930’s horror movies but the newer ones are absolutely full of gore and all types of depravity. I know much of it actually happens in the world but I don’t want to be subjected to it.
Even family hour TV shows are getting really gross.

Speaking of the end of the year, I thought I would pass this around (Poland doesn't allow Muslim invasion)

She makes the same wild psychotic faces as Charles Manson and serial killer Aileen Wournos did.

You’re taking me back.
I spent my last days off watching these classics:
Tarantula
Them
The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms
The Giant Behemoth
When Worlds Collide
And a few others.
(And, yes. I was going all MST3K with every one of them in my head.)

I love horror films, but I like them to have a good mystery, and those are usually ghost stories. I don't want to see all sorts of violence and gore. My favorites are The Changeling (George C. Scott), The Ring, The Innocents, and others in the same style.

The old horror movies distinguished between good and evil and we all wanted to be good.
Modern horror movies - seems they are teaching evil IS good and this is how to do it!

They are generally pretty cheap to make, too. Some red dye and karo syrup. Some hot 20 somethings and a chain saw or a bowie knife. Instant profit.

Oh my favorites! Plus I got some dillys for Christmas!
Donvan’s Brain
Abbot and Costello meet the monsters. (Costello ALMOST pats a female statue on the butt)
Monster of Pedras Blancas.
The Crack In the World
The Green Slime.
And several Vincent Price movies.
To: EdnaMode
This is one of the most horrifying movies I have ever seen because you think it's one thing and then it becomes something else entire.y.
BETTER WATCH OUT
