GOP lawmaker calls for ‘purge’ of FBI
The Hill ^ | December 26, 2017 | Josh Delk

Rep. Francis Rooney (R-Fla.) on Tuesday called for a "purge" of the FBI.

During an interview on MSNBC, Rooney said he thinks the American people have "very high standards" for the country's government agencies.

He was pressed during the interview on whether he is trying to discredit the Department of Justice, and thus discredit the investigation into Russian election interference.

"I don't want to discredit them. I would like to see the directors of those agencies purge it," he said.

Glad to see more Congrssmen calling out the corrupt FBI. However I'm not sure their new director is going to be up to the task of cleaning them up, from what I've seen from him so far. For example, from the WSJ today:

https://www.wsj.com/amp/articles/trump-renews-criticism-of-fbi-as-he-chides-top-official-on-twitter-1514079779?__twitter_impression=true

Associates of Mr. Wray said the director has confidence in Mr. McCabe and admired how he ran the bureau after Mr. Comey’s firing. Mr. Wray doesn’t want to appear to have buckled under pressure from Mr. Trump or Republicans, the associates said.

Fire them all, and start from scratch.

Or don’t start again at all.

Sick of these arrogant jerks abusing the power we entrusted them with.

Dismantle this corrupt agency and every other corrupt federal agency, which is all of them.

What would be the grounds for being purged?

"I would like to see the directors of those agencies purge it"

lol, that's funny. The directors, like Comey, Mccabe? I hate to break it to him but when the apples at the top are rotten the whole tree is rotten and the only fix is to cut it down.

No I don't trust Wray either. He defends the FBI, which pretty much kills any credibility. There is no defense of this rogue agency. It must be shut down and all personnel releived of duty. At some point if needed we can begin anew with a few vetted people who don't hate the fact the American people are in charge of this nation.

0bama politicized the FBI and all agencies for that matter, to entrench radical leftists in positions of power throughout the government so that even if a republican is president, the left still controls the levers of power everywhere.

It is 0bama and the Clinton and their willing collaborators in the gop who need to be purged, and imprisoned for the rest of their lives.

There are only 3 Federal Crimes authorized by the US Constitution.

Do you know what they are?

and why do we need an FBI for the only three Federal Crimes found in the Constitution?

Wray is in an unenviable position - needs to clean up a fetid mess and still try to add credibility to the agency because there are undoubtedly some decent folks in the trenches who are also dismayed/pissed about how the agency has been perverted..

Will he cut the mustard or hear the words, "You're fired!"?

Exactly, this is the left’s ongoing politicization of the national bureaucracy to entrench a permanent leftist state. The FBI and DOJ was to be the enforcement arm of it.

Public hanging for the corrupt FBI officials, then leave them hanging so buzzards and vultures can have a feast.

Is this the same Mr Wray that is about to be held in contempt of Congress for stone walling Congressional oversight committees?

This can all be done in one step with an Article V convention. The DC swamp is never going to purge itself, the people have to do this from outside of DC and the mechanism the founders gave us to do just that is an Article V Convention.

I think we should get the first Convention complete and propose a balanced budget amendment and maybe repeal the 17th. Then after a successful ratification we can immediately move to hold a second convention with a goal to cut the entire government. Pretty much the only thing government should be doing is defending this nation militarily and building a few roads. Everything else should be left to the States or the People. I think I read that once.

I don't, but I always enjoy your history lessons about the government, so please don't hold back in your explanation.

Why do we need a national police force, which is what the FBI is? Policing should be a local activity. If the feds need some form of law enforcement, it ought to be to police their own agencies, and to offer legitimate national services such as the national fingerprint database.

Jurisdictional issues and deeper pockets.

The FBI is beyond purging. It needs to be defunded and abolished.

Wray getting reamed out in a recent op-ed by Sharyl Attkisson:

http://thehill.com/opinion/civil-rights/365131-fbi-chiefs-claim-on-surveillance-abuse-doesnt-fit-the-evidence?amp&__twitter_impression=true

I caught my breath when I heard FBI Director Christopher Wray testify to Congress that there’s been no abuse of Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA)...

Treason, Piracy, and Counterfeiting.

Hard to believe we need an entire Agency to handle 3 crimes, 2 of which almost never occur, and counterfeiting has been made LEGAL by the Federal Reserve act of 1913. so there are only 2 crimes, neither of which are common.
