However, when researchers considered how environmental and genetic limitations combined may affect the ability for us to reach these upper limits, our effect on the environment was found to play a key role.
"This will be one of the biggest challenges of this century as the added pressure from anthropogenic activities will be responsible for damaging effects on human health and the environment." Prof. Toussaint predicts. "The current declines in human capacities we can see today are a sign that environmental changes, including climate, are already contributing to the increasing constraints we now have to consider."

Global Warming will cause decreased performance at future Olympics?
It’s already happened to Russia!!!
"...CLIMATE!..."
Going beyond #FakeScience into the nebulous realms of #AbsurdScience!
Letting duh dumbasses breed through subsidizing them cradle to grave is contributing to human decline, NOT cLIEmate change.
More “climate change” bullsheisht.
Comte said there was no way we’d ever know what starts are made of. This defeatist speculation has no better foundation and is nothing but a warmist’s wet dream.
When I read the title my first thought was ‘they determined the limits of human development by studying the current state of humans didn’t they?’
They must have, they can’t study what humans will be and they obviously haven’t studied the historical course of humanity.
Well, Ruth Badar Ginsburg is anyway......
+1
Humans could do much better with an improved diet and more exercise.
It’s pretty hard for a culture to give up on quick food and labor saving devices.
I think it is the food that is available to all, good medicine, pretty healthy diets and vitamins over the past 50-60 years have produced two generations that are probably about maxed out but I would not be surprised if man gets bigger in the future due to bio-technology and selective breeding.
Weekend at Bernies Ruths.
General fitness probably peaked in the 1940’s to 60’s. So many people now do very little or no manual labor. Worse, bad habits are killing people. Overeating, bad foods and drug abuse are probably about to pass smoking if they haven’t already.
Yep, I graduated in 71 and our high school had state championships in football and wrestling several times from 69-71.
Most of those star athletes are either dead or severely health impaired now.
You might have expected them to sail through their 60’s.
Boy, if I’m as good as it gets humanity is doomed. And if the purpose of man is to sprout ear and nose hair, it should be.
