Waffle House customer cooks his own meal after finding staff sleeping

WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. A hungry, slightly inebriated man knew just what to do when he stopped by a South Carolina Waffle House early Thursday only to find the restaurant’s staff snoozing: He cooked up his own meal, snapping selfies along the way.

He told WIS that he wouldn’t normally have gotten behind the grill.

"I give all the credit to my old friend vodka," Bowen said.

Been here, done that in Virginia. Had to be on the road at 3am to drive to Arkansas. Walked in to get breakfast one person was sitting at a table, head down and cigarette burning. First thought was to leave. I went behind the counter got some coffee dropped a buck on the counter and left.

Every couple of months or so, there is a great Waffle House posting here.

Those who know Waffle House know this is very possible. Every night between about 2 to 5 AM your local Waffle House is a great place to go to watch a fight or if the spirit moves you get into a fight. You can fight other customers or the staff Your choice.

Horrible food. Dreadful. I’ve only eaten there when sober so that must be it.

WH makes great food . . . good enough for me to remember when I had a brief two month assignment in SC in a previous life.

I was disappointed in it when I first moved to the south. Then I figured it out ... I made the mistake of ordering waffles at the Waffle House. Their hamburgers are a very good value.
