Senate Republican leadership is calling for Alabama GOP candidate Roy Moore to step down as the party's nominee if new allegations of his inappropriate sexual conduct against a 14-year old girl in 1979 are true.
Both Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and National Republican Senatorial Committee chairman Sen. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.) released brief statements on Thursday, shortly after The Washington Post published the allegations.
"If these allegations are true, he must step aside," McConnell said.
Gardner's statement echoed that from McConnell.
The allegations against Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore are deeply troubling, he said. If these allegations are found to be true, Roy Moore must drop out of the Alabama special Senate election.

Only way to contact with that website is if you’re a Kentucky resident. An actual email address or phone number is the only way for anyone outside the state to contact him.
The Obstructionist party is a thugocrisy.
Wouldnt it be nice if republicans went after democrats with the same fire and fury as they do republicans?
It sure would and we wouldn’t have to lie about it like the Demons do. Just show them up for the sorry, immoral jerks they really are.
Wave your white flag elsewhere.
I was in a bathroom in Lexington restaurant several years ago, using the urinal, when a guy with no chin came on to me, asking me if I wanted to see his turtle.
And when you go home to Senator John McCain this evening tell him to go to hell
How does it make sense for Mitch to have held it until after the primary? He would have wanted to use it to get Strange nominated. Now the main beneficiary is Jones.
Hey, ladies, what happened? Did Roy decided NOT to pay the blackmail money after 35+ years? Is that why you came out now? Or did Jeff pay you millions to fake report...
Turtle; your soup is calling. Time to go.
There is a reason why we have statutes of limitations and people (generally) cannot sue for things they claim happened forty years ago. It is a complete joke to say that allegations from forty years ago printed by the horrendously biased Washington Post a month before a critical election should be given any credence whatsoever. The accuser is a three-times divorced, three-times bankrupt, former drug user who never went public with these accusations before despite Roy Moore running for statewide office at least four times previously - and yes that is printed right in the article. Sure, if he did it, that would be wrong, but there is zero reason to believe this and every reason not to. It is actually laughable that this the best (worst) that the Washington Post could come up with.

Worth the repost!!
Hang in there Moore, this may work out in our favor.
Every threat to the rhinos or dems is a sexual pervert. Yet who does it appears the real perverts are?
The democrats accuse everyone else of what they do from sexual crimes to partnering with Russians, Chinese, etc.
I am behind Judge Moore...innocent until proven guilty. Fight the scum.
I don't know if there are any less slimy sources, but isn't that the point. It's the charge that counts, particularly if amplified by prominent voices and the media. IIRC, there was some info about his discharge papers, but nothing very specific, as well.
Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey were sacrificed to bring down Judge Roy Moore?
I took a look at his posts since he got here this year. He has that smell of a GOPe or Dem plant.
That certain is the Tom Foley approach ... and apparently the Mitch McConnell approach as well.
Not mine ... I have more than enough solidly sourced (is the Congressional Record solid?) reasons to hold Bitch McTurdle beneath contempt ... I'll just put the BJs in the Army rumor back on the shelf. I don't need it.
I see that the underlying point, here, is actually McConnell's hypocrisy. That point is well taken.
>>6. Stories like this, work cause country is full if stupid people.
Precisely. And a large majority of them are so stupid that they are incapable of ever learning that they are stupid. There is a specific term to describe such people, but just now I cannot recall what it is.
It's all about spin and exposure and publicity and politics nowadays.
This one doesn't give me much pause to think it's true. It could be but how important is something like this 40 years later, except to the advantage of the woman making this claim? She offers nothing to back it up and neither does the Washington Compost. Just mud-slinging at this point. 15-minutes of fame maybe. But to coincidentally bring this out for the very first time one month before the election, is proof enough this is the Alabama version of the October Surprise. It won't stick.
But what does give me pause in this, is all of the GOP establishment elites at first blush, suggesting Moore pull the plug on his campaign. Not one word of support. No rallying to the party's nominee for the Senate. Just pointed remarks from them, said with innuendo, to quit if it is true. These people know this could be fake news. Most of it is nowadays. But no skepticism shown. No remaining neutral until Moore got his denial out. Piling on is what I see.
Falling back in the legal theory of "the reasonable man", what would he think here?
A reasonable man would look at this and say this is a political stunt intended to knock Moore our of the race or minimize his support right before the levers are to be pulled. And the odds are that it's not true at all. Check into this woman's background and I bet she's a liberal taking one for the party. Or being paid to come forward to make it sound worse than it was.
This one smells skanky to me.
Really? You think he did it? Sorry, 35+ years those ladies kept silent, I wonder why? Is Mitch and Jeff paying those ladies or did Roy decided NOT to pay anymore blackmail money to them.
Quisling traitors to America, yassah bitches of the global oligarchy, every one of them.
