I’m an Iphone 6S user and might get the X but I can’t see a reason for getting the 8. It seems like a very modest upgrade from the 7.

I upgraded and the same thing as with every major Apple upgrade: Battery life is horrid. The two best features is the scanner ability and QR code reader built in.

If that’s the case I’m not a bit surprised.
Their big announcement was a nothing burger,
the 8 is just a warmed over 7,
the watch burns up the battery if you use it as intended,
you won’t be able to get the $1200+ X until next year,
nobody wants face recognition,
and fast charging is an extra $75 bucks.
To: Red Badger
Probably because the fanboys are wanting the X instead of the 8.

Phones have pretty much reached the point that personal computers did many years ago. There's no longer any compelling reason to upgrade every time a new version comes out.
As with my computer, there's no real reason up buy a new device until my current one gets tired and worn out. They've pretty much run out of "compelling" new features to put in the things.

I’m at the point where I think I am going to have to switch to Android. I have been an iPhone customer for years. I don’t want to switch, I want to stay with the iPhone, but Apple is making it harder and harder for me. It will be a huge hassle, a major inconvenience, and I really don’t want to do it, but I really feel like they are pushing me away, forcing me to stop using their product even though I want to continue using it.
They keep removing the features that I like and adding features that are annoying, invasive and/or useless. They refuse to give me even simple options to customize things, and force me to use their product in a way that I don’t want to have to use it.

For as big of an Apple fanboy as Rush is, he’s not doing them any favors! All this week he talked about NOT getting the 8, and waiting for the X!
I don’t have a dog in this fight; I still have a flip phone and JUST bought myself a tablet (Fire 8) and I’m not sure I’m going to get all that much use out of it!

I upgraded to an iPhone 8+, and did it over the web.
Arrives today per UPS.
No need for me to drive to an Apple or other phone store to get my hands on one.
Sorry to disappoint the reporterettes and their photogs, having nothing to show but a finger touching Enter.

I do not see him much urge to go from the 7+ to the 8+. The X is a different matter. Personally, I may go for it.

I use a 5-year old iPhone 5 as my personal smartphone. I, like most Apple users, dont update hardware every year Apple is constantly updating their software (including for old iPhones) and adding improved and new capabilities.
The latest software update (iOS 11) released this month is too much for my old iPhones hardware to handle. So its time for House Atreides to get a new iPhone. But Im not getting the iPhone 8; I can wait until next month to get the iPhone X since I plan to keep it a long time.
And, by the way, the iPhone 8 isnt a minor update - it has substantial improvements and new capabilities beyond those in the iPhone 7.

The only reason I traded in my iPhone 6 for a 7 was that I actually ran out of memory. And I got a screamin’ Black Friday deal. But now my iPhone 7 has plenty of memory and I see absolutely no need to upgrade.

The news reports that there are no long lines at the Apple stores for the iPhone 8. There weren't long lines for the Apple 7 or 6S either. Apple has had on-line pre-ordering since the Apple 4S so that has essentially eliminated the long lines of the past at Apple Stores. . . yet iPhone 8 pre-orders in China alone were over 4 million. Now add that the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are not even Apple's 2017 flagship phone. That is reserved for the upcoming $999 iPhone X (ten) being released for pre-orders on October 27 for November 2nd. PING!
Are Apple's Customers Passing on the iPhone 8?
No, They're Just Buying By Pre-Order.
Ping!
