Richard Anderson, the Emmy-nominated actor who played Oscar Goldman in both hit 1970s series The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman, died August 31. He was 91.
Andersons credits spanned more than 180 film and TV roles over six decades after starting his Hollywood career as a messenger at MGM. But he will be best remembered for playing Goldman, the handler of the bionic duo played by Lee Majors and Lyndsay Wagner. Combined, the series ran for 150 episodes and several TV movies two of which Anderson produced.

Yeah, the original Night Stalker had the benefit of some good writers and directors, and Darren McGavin was perfect for the role. They really knew how to work it given they had some of the cheesiest special effects on television at the time, and had to stick with that monster-of-the-week format. How could you not like Tony Vincenzo, Ron ‘Uptight’, and Miss Emily? Yes, I’m old enough to remember it on rabbit-ear TV from back then, but it’s still great late night Internet fare. They really screwed the pooch with that remake a few years back. They could have had a gold mine with that if they knew what they were doing.
“He played the same character regularly on two different shows on two different networks simultaneously. I dont know if thats ever been done before or since.”
I don’t think it has, but Richard Belzer playing John Munch has appeared on at least nine different TV shows including:
- Homicide
- Law & Order:SVU
- Law & Order
- The X-Files
- The Beat
- Law & Order: Trial by Jury
- Arrested Development
- The Wire

Keen!
I can’t either now that you mention it.
He worked well with Berger’s character.
Thank you. I wasn’t certain.
That is a piece of trivia I did not know!
He was the last surviving regular from “Perry Mason.” Watched “Six Million” and “Bionic” as a kid in the ‘70s and in reruns in the early ‘80s. Enjoyed his work. RIP.
Farrah Fawcet was his wife. He grew up in my home town, as a kid in the 70’s we passed him and Farrah driving in their car. His mom sold her house to my wife’s great uncle. Majors still calls my families business a couple of times a year to do business. He never fails to ask how things are going in town and how the weather is. Nice guy!
Farrah Fawcett
That’s Anderson with the great Joe Turkel, later in “Blade Runner” and “The Shining.” He just turned 91 last month.

Agreed...LOVED THAT SHOW. They don’t make em like that anymore.
In that episode, Anderson played an immortal who required human sacrifices to maintain his life force.
Sure, the show was cheezy and cheap but it had a certain flair to it. Cult classic material.
My favorite episode was about a Native American Shaman-spirit (Diablero) played by Richard Kiel (”Bad Medicine”)
2nd favorie episode was about a Hindu shape-shifter (Rakshasa) titled “Horro in the Heights”.
Episode list of the Night Stalker (can be acquired on DVD, Blueray...used to be NetFlix but not anymore)

I think he had a bit part in Failsafe, the serious version of Dr. Strangelove, opposite Fritz Weaver. I could be mistaken.
"Let me tell you... Six million dollars doesn't buy what it used to. Trust me..."

Farah Fawcett.
He was in several episodes as different characters. The one I best remember is him playing the traveling seed salesman who killed women. Of course, Lucas took him out in the end.
One of the best true to life war movies of all time. Not of combat, but of the mind games of the perfumed princes who seem to inhabit every general staff. Typically brilliant direction by Kubrick.
No problem. I wasn’t criticizing you. I’m a history buff/nut. Lol.
