If Trump is the Republican id, this exchange between Laura Ingraham and Krauthammer is a dialogue between the ego and superego. Ingraham, a nationalist, is all about the agenda. Was Trump’s presser today a good thing? Well, she says, he made some solid points — but it wasn’t useful. It didn’t advance the ball on policy. Krauthammer, a conservative, isn’t interested in that right now. Was it moral, he asks? Was it right?
I wonder how many variations of this exchange are playing out within the administration tonight. Watch this quickie clip of Chuck Todd speculating that John Kelly’s going to end up having to talk people out of quitting over today’s spectacle. Um, I doubt it. Since when do Republicans balk at anything Trump does?

Kelly himself is reportedly not a happy man this evening:
Uh-oh a source tells @SaraMurray new White House Chief of Staff John Kelly is very frustrated with how today played out.

He looked every inch of it standing off to Trump’s side during today’s presser.
Oh — this guy was unhappy too. I know, I know: He’s a cuck.
No, not the same. One side is racist, bigoted, Nazi. The other opposes racism and bigotry. Morally different universes.

Somehow the back and forth between Ingraham and Krauthammer ends with them debating whether Trump’s statement yesterday, in which he denounced white nationalists after hedging on Saturday, reflects what’s actually in his heart or not. If you don’t believe the reporting on that, just watch the guy talk. When Trump is reading from a script, it’s abundantly clear. He speaks more slowly and his sentences are conspicuously more measured than when he’s rat-a-tat riffing on his thoughts, as he obviously was today. What happened the past few days isn’t complicated. He softballed his comments about the alt-right on Saturday, was cajoled by his aides into saying something more emphatic about them yesterday, then resented the fact that he’d been pressured into clarifying his remarks and decided to double down on the “both sides” point today off the cuff. Yesterday’s statement almost amounted to an apology for Saturday’s comments, and you know how Trump feels about apologies. Today he un-apologized.
And to think I once gave s*** what Charles thought.
Krauthammers lefty slip is showing. :-)
This sounds like the position of the Stupid Party that is afraid to fight back or defend the truth. It is why they are losers. I hope Trump holds firm and that the Sessions investigation provides the facts. Refusing to fight and leaving the field is an act of cowardice. Trump's supporters, including me, will stand by him.
Antifa and BLM must be exposed for the brown shirts that they are.
I think the event most people are referring to when they refer to “Skokie” was in the 60s.
Some years back our city had a problem with a sanctuary city mayor and his setup of a day labor site for illegal aliens.
Some local citizens, not part of any organization or group, just citizens, protested with a few homemade signs.
The illegal alien groups brought in the ARA (an anarchist group like the one in Charlottesville), SEIU, La Raza, and other immigrant thugs to stop the citizens.
The anarchists wearing black ski masks came armed with clubs and weapons, with their silly “No One Is Illegal” signs stapled to hockey stick weapons, and did everything possible to provoke a response from the unarmed citizens, grabbing their signs, cameras, cursing at them.
Under the mayor’s direction, in spite of state and city laws forbidding weapons at demonstrations, the police did nothing.
The next day’s Washington Post was all about the racist bigots who were attacking poor illegal aliens (never happened), but not a word about the anarchists and their illegal actions and provocations.
Sound like Charlottesville?
Been there, done that.
It was an education on how the left operates and how the media defends them.
I would submit that paraplegics voice the thought they should be treated as any other citizen when it comes to political thought.
Believe it or not, I was not aware he is a paraplegic. I may have heard it at one time, but I don’t recall having heard of it before.
If he ventures out into the political pond, he’s fair game to be treated as anyone fully healthy who did the same thing.
I would not try to take advantage of an infirmity to make a point. Any perception that I have, should take that into account.
Now the question is, is Mitt on their Payroll, or is he just piling on Trump because he is jealous?
But see the comments. They are 75% against Kraut. Trump is doing right for his base - losers like McCain and Romney and Kraut don’t matter.
There was an opportunity last night. Either Democrats would have defended ANTIFA, forever associating them with extremists; or they would not have, making ANTIFA dog meat.
But ANTIFA had an ace up its sleeve. A handful of Republicans who actually are worse. I mean Romney basically said ANTIFA are good decent people. By doing this he gave them a life line. We already had McCain not missing a photo op with terrorists, and now Mitt is carrying their water.
If he doesn’t know anything about him, then this is about him taking advantage of a sore moment for the POTUS to attack the person he is jealous of.
This is what I was explaining to Jamestown1630. He seemed to think politicians don’t pay attention to what people do “in the streets”. I hear it is 1 person in the streets=100 letters=10,000 emails. Since GOP voters don’t do streets (or if they try the media either ignores them or relabels them “Nazis”) it becomes apparent why the GOP politicians have “no spine”. If we were to take to the streets regularly it would surely “stiffen their spine”.
Charles never liked Trump, likes to look for issues he can disagree with him on. Bottom line, pundits don’t provide solutions to anything. They are armchair quarterbacks that pontificate for show.
“If he doesnt know anything about him, then this is about him taking advantage of a sore moment for the POTUS to attack the person he is jealous of.”
Trump’s enemies on the left and right are united in trying to get him to quit, destroy his reputation to prevent his re-election, or stop his agenda. The BS about racism is to stir up the blacks in the hope they will turn out for the 2018 and 2020 elections like they did for the Obustard. Its hard to believe anyone is sincerely worked up about some moldy old statues or a few KKK/nazi nuts.
Yes, well said, MM. Mollie Hemingway sort of 'kills 'em with kindness'. ;-)
I watch and participate in Bret Baier's occasional Wednesday Special Report online show, which runs usually every Wednesday right after the show at 7:00pm ET. Mollie is a rock star there! Posters on the forum want her on the show every night.
So is Romney in the pay of ANTIFA, or is this just about getting back at Trump?
Outside of me and Jesus I ain’t sure of anything anymore. Pure unadulterated chaos.
This is all part of their plot against Trump, McConnell is stung by his failures they are not this stupid, just evil.
And at the heart of it all is one issue - ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION. The big money wants it so bad.
