A new report estimates banning transgender service members would set the U.S. back $960 million, challenging President Donald Trump's pro-ban argument about "the tremendous medical costs" associated with permitting transgender people to serve in the military.
The report, co-authored by the Palm Center and current and retired professors at the Naval Postgraduate School, estimates the cost to replace transgender service members would be 100 times greater than current estimates for the annual cost of providing them transition-related care.
"President Trump said that he wants to fire honorably serving transgender troops in order to save money, but that begs the question, 'How much money would it cost to implement the President's vision?'" Palm Center Executive Director Aaron Belkin said.
"It would be much more expensive to fire transgender troops then to let them keep serving. The President wants to spend $1 dollar to save a dime, and that really doesn't make much business sense."
Where does the media find these ridiculous studies?
Only $900M? Money well spent.
By that argument, it is more expensive to train new soldiers for those killed in combat or severely wounded, therefore we should not send our soldiers into combat.
Besides which, think how many MAGA types discouraged their kids from joining the military in the era of 0bama and his neutering of the military. Who would want to enlist, knowing he was the CIC, and you might be sleeping next to a gay or transgender person in your tent in the desert?
I think this change will bring an uptick in enlistments of patriotic young people.
Amazing. The Left always suddenly cares about cost when it’s one of their pet projects.
Don’t worry snowflakes Illegals are being sent packing a few at a time just like they came in, and the trans-whatever will be separated from active duty similarly.
Your post says it all. A gay man founded the company that posted this report? Yeah right! Go away quickly.

Ah yes. A completely unbiased report on what “could” happen from the completely unbiased Rosey Palm Center for Unbiased Reporting and Non-advocacy of Homosexual Issues.

It’s sad how many people will actually believe this nonsense.
They only want in the military to GET FREE STUFF!
I bet it would cost more to GIVE THEM FREE CHANGES, PAY THEM WHILE THE RECUPE.....AND who knows what other expenses.
Better than costing a war.
“Banning Transgender Troops Could Cost U.S.$960 Million, Report Says”
Pretty good investment to purge the perverts and deviants from the military. (we all know that the above headline is fake news).
I can’t believe it only costs $20,000 for an addadicktome (unbelievablely, that word came up to add!). Is that the total price for the surgery?
Unless I am mistaken Dont ask, dont tell was an Executive Order and can be easily changed by the President.
Well easy in an administrative way.
However it would set off a political fire storm.
But as a practical matter and the fiscally responsible thing to do is to reinstate the requirement to state under penalty of perjury that an enlistee is not a homosexual and not a transgender in waiting.
The military is not designed to be nor can it function as a purely medical plan for these mentally ill people.
Two words: FAKE NEWS!
I’m no expert on the topic. But what happened to “Don’t ask. Don’t tell?” as a fallback position?
Not all transgenders, or gays, or straights are attention getting, lawsuit obsessed money chasers. Two of the three gays in my unit in Vietnam were good soldiers. One wasn’t.
Is it possible to treat people as individuals and not as stereotypes of labels created by the identity group manufacturing industry?
That same sort of cost-benefit analysis applied to Trump’s Wall would net the treasury $999 trillion.
Pure bull sh-t.
