Some people dont know that two dollar bills are real, so when Mike Bolesta used over 50 of them to make a purchase at a Best Buy store, an encounter with the police and Secret Service ensued.
Yea, it’s real. It’s on the internet, isn’t it?
Here it is from 2005. http://hoaxes.org/weblog/comments/man_arrested_for_paying_with_two_dollar_bill
Of course, they identified it as a hoax back then.
Nifster gets the common sense award on this thread. Most folks took the bait.
Yes excellent story!!
A friend of my Dad worked with a guy who carried a stack of two dollar bills. He would stack neatly on top of some shirt cardboard and use rubber cement on one side so he had a nice pad of 2 dollar bills fresh from the printer. Clients enjoyed watching him pay the bill. It generally create a lot of disturbance when he started to rip those babies off the pad
They’re only good for buying obama football bats.
oh my gosh! i remember traveler’s checks... it’s been quite a while since i’ve used them...
I was hassled a couple of years ago by a cashier over an old $100 bill (not the new ones with the color strip).
The manager set him straight and apologized to me.
You can buy uncut sheets of currency from the mint. Steve Wozniak used to get a kick out of carrying them around to cut out and pay for things:

I just Google searched traveler’s checks. American Express still sells them. My local bank in Maine discontinued selling traveler’s checks about five to ten years ago.
President Jefferson and Monticello are on the front and back of the $2 bill. I don’t know what they’re doing now, but years ago if you went to tour his home, Monticello, the fee was $18. Most people would hand them a $20, and they would hand you back a $2 bill in change. I still have mine.
really?
Had the man’s name, business name, and location of his business.
It appears this has happened more than once. I’ve been questioned at the 7-Eleven when I pulled them out.

How old do you have to be to get they “queer” joke? 60? 55? 65?
A woman sales clerk last week actually counted up from the product price to the $20 I had handed her. I was flabbergasted! Hadn’t heard that in probably 30 years. I complimented her on continuing to count change the right way. She was maybe 70 or 75 — most likely the last person in the country that knows how to do that.
I wonder what his Freeper name is?
“I would have been on the phone to my lawyers ASAP!!”-—
And that’s exactly what’s wrong with this country-—litigation mad.
.
If my bill is 12 and I have a 20, I might add two singles to pay so I can get a 10 back. The clerk, usually a young person, will say, sir you gave me too much. I reply put it in the computer and it will figure it out for you.
12 years of catholic school and i’m surrounded by the new generation of public school idiots.
LOL! I have a friend that collects the 2$ bills (and Wheat Pennies and other odd coinage) for her Grandkids. I just mailed one off to her this week!
I’m sending her this story...
"Seems a bit queer to me"
Fastest way to make change for a $9 bill.
