And one more thing in case people only follow MSM: Fox reported this was a single attack on one airbase to eliminate where the chemical attack originated. Read that again in case you forgot. This is not going to all out war with Syria. this was to stop them from carrying out another chemical attack and to force them to rethink of ever doing so again.
God Bless President Trump.
Putin did nothing to include lying about getting rid of Assad’s chemical weapons. Trump isn’t Obama. So much for collaboration with Russia.
A good portion of Syria has been reduced to rubble.
That message was not for Assad.
That message was for the Norks and Chicoms
What a wimp. Buck up and stop being a loser.
He ended his statement with “God bless America and the world.”
I didn’t hear a bunch of Dems demanding a military strike. Now they’ve got something to yell impeachment about.
And Russia is about to pitch a bitch.
Trump ended his statement with “God bless America and God bless the world”.
And here I thought FR was far too much of a Trump-uber-alles cheerleading site... and now lots of FReepers are racing to make sweeping statements and give up entirely, despite some amazing progress in less than 100 days.
..precedent: Reagan’s strike on Khadafi in 1986—if it goes beyond going after ISIS, though, you have a point...
This event does represent a change from 8 years of Obama policy towards Syria, which was to let Assad do whatever he wanted—step over any line—without repercussions.
This would be a reasonable example of "peace through strength", some woiuld argue—and I seriously doubt that this incident will suddenly cause President Trump to become a warmongering neocon.
But let's not let that get in the way of the knee-jerk armchair quarterbacking, conducted by those who have access to much deeper knowledge than the State and Defense departments.
What would Steve Bannon say, I wonder?
You need to take a pill! What do you want, “Barack Hussein Trump” Sheesh! Give it a rest!
Oh geez people, you wanted Trump to have peace through strength and he is and then you complain.
You roasted Obama for saying there was a red line and not doing anything and you expect Trump to do the same thing.
What a bunch of unloyal people, Trump is getting it from the lefties and from the right wing too. For once, please stand behind the man you voted for.
It was just a bitch slap to Assad to show him we aren’t going to take it any more, it’s also a slap to Russia and to Iran. It’s a 3fer.
We’ve intervened to help Saudi Arabian backed jihadists take over Syria.
“Putting Saudi Arabia First”.....
a cold shower can put out that raging hair fire you got goin’ there...
Time to,get out that “miss me yet?” meme
I’m not convinced we know what is going on here.
It has seemed a stretch that Assad would use gas. It also seemed possible the rebels deployed it, or ran a ruse.
It was also possible Assad’s aircraft his a rebel gas depot.
Israel seems to think Assad did it. They generally have pretty good intel.
Trump said this evening that Assad has used gas a number of times over the last several months.
This is still up in the air for me.
Am I glad we took military action? Not really.
We’ll have to see how it plays out, and what backs up his play.
He sent missles. Not ground troops. He did what a great leader should do.
Man! What a bunch of panty twisting there is going on around here.
I’ve been one of Trump’s harshest critics around here but thus doesn’t seem like any “globalist” agenda, at all, to me.
It sends an early message without risking any American lives. A message of strength, resolve, leadership and the willingness to stand up for what’s right.
I’ve seen no credible evidence that anyone but Assad was behind the chemical attacks. The Internet and its myriad of blogs doesn’t count as evidence. If someone wants to show me solid proof that the rebels or Isis were responsible for gassing their own people to gin up aggression against Assad fine do so. But don’t link to some “black ops blog” or some other ridiculous crap like that. Link to primary source material.
Otherwise I have no reason to doubt Assad did it, he’s done it before and he’s felt emboldened after the last 8 years of Zero “leadership”. Hopefully this will send a message that crimes against humanity won’t be tolerated any more.
Also a bonus, I’d like to hear how Trump is a Russian secret agent after this. It’s a win win for everyone except the monster Assad and the thug Putin helping him.
All I have to say is that I voted for Trump to do precisely not this.
However, I support him, because he’s my president. But I’m real nervous, not particularly pleased.
Don’t really know what else to say.
I don't think it means that we will be sending large numbers of troops into Syria to take down Assad. No doubt, Assad was discussed with General Sisi and King Abdullah among others. It remains to be seen how this plays out in the next few days.
I’m more concerned with taking the bait of an(other) obvious false flag. There are many too many unanswered questions to be taking military action.
