Will he sharply reduce third-world migration (”legal”/”illegal”/”refugee”/whatever) into my homeland? If he does that and nothing else, he is a major success. If he does not do that, he is a failure and a fraud.

How did Assad mess with "us"? ISIS kills children by the hundreds every single day. They set them on fire. They chop off their heads. Now we bomb the guy who has been killing ISIS.
If History is any indication (and you of all people on this forum knows history) this is not going to turn out well.

This was a knee jerk attack. I don't think it was well planned and the fallout is not going to be good.

It’s worse than that. Trump is playing 37 dimension chess and the Syrian Islamist rebels beat him by playing checkers — using a single transparent (but not to Trump) ruse and some dead children -— and got the befuddled Trump to attack their enemies for them.
