3 (THREE) Boxes Pistachio Pudding (3.5 oz approx. - often 3.4)
1 can Crushed Pineapple (20 oz. approx.)
3/4-1 cup milk (I prefer whole milk)
2 bags Pecan pieces (or about 4 oz)
1 bag Mini Marshmallows (I like the colored / flavored ones yellow/green/pink/orange)
2 tubs Cool-Whip or similar whipped topping
In a large cake mixing bowl,
1) Empty the whole can of Pineapple AND juice
2) put in 2 (TWO) of the contents of Pistachio Pudding
3) put in the milk
4) put in the pecan pieces
5) (optional) - put in about 1/2 can of fruit cocktail with cherries / 1/2 juice (maybe 1/4 cup less milk)
Mix BY HAND with spatula or plastic / wood spoon until evenly-distributed
6) Fold in the 2 tubs of whipped topping
7) Put in the contents of the 3rd box of Pistachio pudding
AGAIN, Mix BY HAND with spatula or plastic / wood spoon until evenly-distributed
Now add in the amount of marshmallows you want - I go with about 1 - 2 cups - approx 2/3 of a 10 oz bag.
Fold in gently with spatula until evenly-distributed.
Chill in refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
Enjoy!!
Yeah, that sounds good too.
Today I went with Fruit Cocktail - Very Cherry
Have some to use while rotating supplies. Saving the new can of crushed pineapple for the next round of this.
Oh I’m sure it’s not “diet-friendly” ......

I view the marshmallows as electrons and the pudding / whipped cream as their orbital sphere - a strong attractive force binding the particles together.
Including the juice, too, right?
Horrible!
LOL! Kind of like General Tso’s Chicken.
It seems there’s a weak force between Bill and Hillary but the strong attraction of the Clinton Cash keeps them together - from a distance.
Yeah used about 1/2 of the can the 2nd go-round.
Today, it was the full can of Very Cherry Fruit Cocktail in heavy (or light) syrup.
I HAD to pull out a few cherries - Quality Control, you know.
Then refilled the can 1-1/4 times with milk to wash out any additional juice before putting in mixing bowl. A very very small amount of cold water is probably a better option.
Rinsed out the can in the sink before throwing in trash.
From what I remember it was the house dessert at the Watergate Hotel and became a national favorite about the time Tricky Dick resigned.
I remember seeing it everywhere.
Every restaurant.
Every deli.
Every office or work party.
Every house in the whole damned country.
You couldn’t get away from the stuff.
As for me, it’s return is as welcome as the return of bell bottom jeans.
Other words, NOT WELCOME.
*** Sounds really good. Do you know how it got the name? ***
My Mom’s old recipe card says “Watergate Salad- It’s a Cover-up”
Cause all the stuff s covered up by the Whipped Topping.
BTW, the little girl next door to me is special needs- disabled due to a stroke as a toddler. Limited use of her right hand and arm. Mentally, about nine.
This is a dessert she can make. I usually keep the ingredients on hand as when her family has a special occasion, she likes to be able to contribute something special to the festivities.
The recipe is printed on the outside of Jello pistachio pudding boxes.
Nice!
Well, I made a an improvement or two, lol.
Good for her. That’s a great story.
Sounds soft on the tum. We go in for that these days at Chez Boots.
Did you look up Yo-Yo Ma?
He is considered the very best cellist in the world these days in symphonic music.
Yeah, I gotta make the Seinfeld reference, ;)
A very nice recipe, and good for the Holidays!
