NFL to end 'Pink October,' teams can choose own charities in 2017

The NFL informed teams last week in a league-wide conference call that "Pink October" - a three-week window in October in which the league dressed up its fields, sidelines, and players in pink to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer - will not continue in 2017.

Instead, teams will be able to choose their own cancer cause to support next season, reports Jenny Vrentas of the MMQB.com.

"It's a balancing act," says Anna Isaacson, the NFL's VP of social responsibility, when asked if this is the start of a trend "We have seen a lot of success in having focused, strategic campaigns. Focusing on one cause, fundraising for it, bringing it to life, choosing a message, spreading word among our fans. We are committed to that. But we are also committed to making sure the voice of our clubs are heard and making sure the voice of our players is heard."

"It's a balancing act," says Anna Isaacson, the NFL's VP of social responsibility..

I think I see the problem here.

I wonder what the NFL's VP of Diversity had to say?

Good. All the pink ridiculousness goes hand-in-hand with Planned Parenthood.

Rule #1 ...

If you work for an organization that has a "VP of social responsibility," it's time to look for a another job. This kind of idiotic position is symptomatic of an organization that has lost its purpose, or never had one in the first place.

I haven’t watch a single game.

I won’t be watching next year if they haven’t figured out what nation they are the National Football League of.

Respect the anthem, the flag and the fans or go out of business.

Good. There are an almost endless number of charities that could use support.

Iiiiinteresting... I think the NFL *is* trying to disentangle from politics which take away from the sport. And making everyone wear pink was, although attention-getting, just made the whole league seem like they were taken over by a team of college dorm RAs.

Does the NFL’s vice president of global warming know about this?

More people die of prostate cancer each year than they do of breast cancer.

Guess who gets Prostate cancer?

Have you seen any blue ribbons, trash cans, auto tags....anything?

Yes, PINK has been long associated with promoting the evil of abortion wrapped in the cloak of goodness of fighting cancer in women, but precisely a radical feminist agenda for bullying MEN.

Go figure.

Two words: childhood leukemia. Sure would like that to go away; if they are looking for a new cause to put in front of us that would be a good one to get behind.

Thank goodness! It is about stinking time. I got sick of the pink mafia the first year they did it.

Breast cancer is horrible. It must be a very degrading and miserablecdisease to suffer and it would be wonderful,to find a true cure or prevention forvit besides removal and chemo. But the Komen Foundation became the 900 pond gorilla shoving every other good charitable cause down a rabbit hole. It was as if millions were dying from breast cancer daily and nobody died from colon cancer or liver cancer or any other malady.

Good move, NFL. It never drew the female audience you were trying to suvpck up to anyway. It is like all the military stuff. The NFL doesnt care about the military. It is just marketing, because they know so many football fans care about the military, they act as if they care.

They better check with the VP of Calling a Friggin Penalty on Every Play. And the VP of Review Every Penalty. I’m sure they will have valuable input

Gawd— I was sick of that pink crap. But I don’t watch NFL anymore. I am part of the 27% viewing audience that just turned them off because of Kapernick — but it is also steroids and they are way out of racial balance.
