Well, I just found out that my dad is sending me to Boston for a while.
Don't know if I'm going to be there a week or whether longer.
Now, I am open to suggestions for really great Italian restaurants.
I'll be leaving next Monday.
West Roxbury is almost all residential. You’ll have to go into nearby Roslindale, Hyde Park or Dedham.

If you can get into Boston proper, visit the North End/Waterfront. there are plenty of options in a tightly-packed neighborhood. I don’t know West Roxbury to assist.
Can you get to the North End? Well worth it if you can.
North end, it is on the corner of Parmenter street. I have been to nearly all of those restaurants there and that by far is the best. It still cooked and prepared by an old Italian family unlike most of the North End today.
I have been to to the back of nearly all the restaurants too and the place I said was clean unlike many others and well priced.
North End is where you’ll find the good Italian food. Nico’s, about 1/2 mile from the Navy Yard, is a good option to try IMHO, but I’m certainly no expert on Italian food.
Several excellent restaurants along Rte. 1 which is right there. Along that road towards Providence the options are plenty. That road goes right by
Gillette Stadium so avoid game day or concerts.
Early vote before you leave.
I lived in Boston for ten years, married a Boston boy. Now live in Florida. When in Boston, I lived in Jamaica Plain (hubby was in Rozzy.)
West Rox — not much there but chains and small neighborhood bar and grills. The best for Italian would be if you could get into the city and get to the North End. The BEST Italian in the country. If Bova’s bakery is still there, get some cannolis (leave the gun, take the cannolis...)
Although, if you’re in a pinch, Bertuccis has good pizza (but its a chain, so be warned.) Pizzaria Regina, as well.
Good luck, and tell us what you find.
I was in North Boston about 15 years ago.
Walking with a buddy down the street looking for a good Italian place.
This grey haired gentleman in a suit walks out of a place and said, “You boys looking for some good Italian food?”
We told him we were.
He said, “You come in here and eat. If you don’t like it, you don’t have to pay.”
We ate and we paid.
I’d have paid three times the bill he gave me. Great food and great service.
I can’t remember the name of the place.
I just remember the nice old guy and the food.
He had photos of him with John Travolta.
North end has many options but Sofia’s and Tony’s would be closer to you

Is Santahpios (east boston) still there?

Veal Parm and homemade pasta.
Wasn’t there once a place called “martini’s?
“
The suggestions to go into Boston and North End are not practical (driving in and out is a nightmare and parking is very expensive). But you can hop on the MBTA commuter rail and go from West Rox to South Station (a 15 minute train ride and a 10 minute walk to North End). Or get off at Back Bay and walk to Maggiano's (very nice and $$$$) near Boston Common.
Another good option-- and close and any easy drive from West Rox-- is Olivadi's in nearby Norwood (5 miles from West Rox).
