HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. - The Hendersonville man accused of killing his 11-year-old daughter appeared in court where a judge cut his bond in half.
Timothy Batts' bond of $1 million was reduced Friday to $500,000. The courtroom was filled with Batt's supporters who cheered after the announcement.
He was charged with reckless homicide in the death of his daughter, Timea.
Batts originally told police she was shot while getting off the school bus. But he later confessed that he accidentally shot her after being startled when she arrived home from her first day of 6th grade.
Batts told police he was in bed, thought Timea was an intruder, & shot her. A detective with the Hendersonville police department said they recovered home surveillance video that showed Batts walking around the home on the phone with a gun before Timea walked in.
In addition to being charged with reckless homicide, he's also jailed on charges of tampering with evidence, false reporting and being a felon with a firearm.
".... within the last 4 years he had turned his life around!", said Patrick Starnes, Timothy Batts' uncle.

The man has “supporters?”
Why were dozens jumping and cheering when it was announced?
“.... within the last 4 years he had turned his life around!”...
Do these people know what that really means?
It means COMPLETELY stopping hanging around with gangsters, or at the restaurants and pizzerias and delis they own, not going to the clubs they frequent, committing NO MORE crime at all, learning a trade and getting to work, COMPLETELY leaving your past behind.
They don’t get it
What the heck does that mean? I guess he wasn't trying hard enough.
Most of us don't have to try, we just do it.
This guy belongs in jail, convicted, then executed.
The article fails to land ridicule upon the Judge where this travesty belongs
“.... within the last 4 years he had turned his life around!”
I do give the guy credit for moving his family out of the hood, but a felon in possession of a firearm is indication that his mentality was still in the hood.
Ah-ha, the mating call of the loser...

but protects the corrupt from you -you know your nation is doomed.” -Ayn Rand
We can’t even get this creep executed, and he’s run our ALL his State and Fed appeals. halsam’s excuse, the head of the Dept of Corrections has to set the date, it’s an Guv appointed position, he can give them orders to set a date.

Nikki was beaten, RAPED, strangled with her own shoelaces, wrapped in a green blanket, which was then tied, by David Keen, he dumped her body into the river off the old Auction Street Boat Dock in Memphis, TN. She drowned to death. Nikki was alive as Keen RAPED her. DNA proved he did and he eventually confessed to the crime. 2 juries, up held the Death Sentence. All State and Federals Appeals are done. Yet he still sits on Tennessee Death Row because Tennessee’s RINO governor won’t sign the Death Warrant for this Child Rapist/Killer.
It’s 2016 Nikki’s mother is still waiting for JUSTICE!

“Most of us don’t have to try, we just do it.”
In reality most of us TRY to live according to the law but NONE of us DO because the law is so screwed up that it is literally and I DO mean literally NOT POSSIBLE to live according to the law. Anyone who imagines that he does live according to the law simply is unaware. You may live according to the law as it SHOULD be but you cannot live according to the law as it is written and interpreted now.
“The man has supporters?”
Peeps, to give the judge an idea as to what might happen if the ruling went the wrong way.
That's bull crap. Other than traffic laws, many of us live within the bounds of the law and common decency. It's a shame to hear you don't.
Not necessarily in that order.............
Timothy Batts. The name certainly sounds “average” to one who’d never heard of this case before. However, as soon as I read the phrase “turning his life around...” I knew TB be all Amishnsh!t.
you’re right.
The Judge spends his days surrounded by armed bailiffs. Nothing can touch him.
In the evenings he goes home to what I'm confident is a very nice home in a very nice neighborhood, where a single phone call can bring the law down on anyone who looks like Timothy Batts who is even so much as walking down the street.
I agree.
