Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti acknowledged Saturday that the results of Novembers U.S. presidential election could weigh heavily on his citys chances of hosting the 2024 Olympics, saying that a victory by Donald Trump could turn off IOC voters.
In an exclusive interview with The Associated Press, Garcetti also said Los Angeles could offer the last, best hope for the United States to host the Summer Olympics again before the American people begin tuning out from the games.
Garcetti, a 45-year-old Democrat and supporter of Hillary Clinton, is in Brazil to observe the Rio de Janeiro Games and pitch his citys bid to members of the International Olympic Committee. One of the main topics of conversation with IOC delegates has been the U.S. election and the prospects of a Trump presidency.

Yet for some reason they think that they are world-class and interesting. There’s no there, there.
Oh waaah
This kind of post really makes this site look silly.
I’m hoping that if Trump gets elected, V. Jarrett’s Iranian brothahs and sistahs decide that America doesn’t deserve getting nuked because they elected Trump.
That would be great.
IMO since most of the sports already have an international organization that holds competitions anyway, they should dump the Olympics and just have world champions coming out of those individual sport competitions. Like the world cup in soccer etc.
No Olympic villages and venues that don’t already exist for the particular sports. Participants would qualify by continent and then go on to world. The IOC would fight this like unions with threatened benefits because they would have to give up their platinum lifestyle that NO ONE else would ever under write. The ratings down 28% last night is just the tip of the disinterest that’s coming.
Time required would be 4-5 day weekend not weeks. Or just keep insisting on the dysfunctional system we have now and get very well acquainted with the lack of interest that’s coming or already here.
you’re right.
The mentally ill need housing but not the Ritz!!
That’s not really as far from a joke as you think. You would faint if you heard what NYC paid to put up a family or a homeless person. As much as 300 a night sometimes.
Build a facility with six cots to a room OR an auditorium of an abandoned school.
Feed them. And a bed. Hell, have a nurse on hand. I’m not heartless.
Dems, however, confuse having a heart with being INCREDIBLY reckless with money.
You are so right. I’ve been to third world airports which put LAX to shame. Fwiw, I first flew out of that airport in 1977. Other than getting more crowded, it has changed little since!
Well Nobel Peace prize winner Hopey Changey and his tranny man wife didn’t help either.
Because when he sees Mr. Trump he sees Ronald Reagan.
When was the last time you were in LAX? 1977?
LOL. I think we can all see how the politically correct decision to host the games in Rio is turning out!
Who Gives A Rip!? Screw LA!
Any homeless person can get help if he really wants it as there is a plethora of local, state, and federal agencies that do just that, not to mention private agencies. The problem is that 70% of homeless people have drug or alcohol problems, the reason they are “homeless” in the first place. We have spent trillions on the “war on poverty” and nothing has changed, we still have poverty. The poor you shall always have with you. Matt. 26:11. Government has yet to cure it despite five decades of promises and taxation promising it can, and they always want more.
Poor wittle babie...
Brown announced that he will speed up the high speed train from the desert to LA thus opening up more hotel sites, more meth labs more gang violent just like the favalas in Rio to the Olympic games. It’s the perfect two for one. That the magic to bring the Games to LA
Even if LA got the Olympics, NBC would only show non-stop commercials.
Great! Let’s make it happen!!
sounds like the Zika virus has infected the Mayor’s brain
