The Republican leaders went and convinced Nixon to leave before that could happen.
Democrats won't do that.
To them, the Democrat Party is more important than their country.
Maybe the Democrat Party can pay their wages.
That’s the difference. Democrats go to the mat to save their jobs and party. Republicans are feckless and fold like cheap suits. It’s always been that way, minus eight years of Reagan and even he was sabotaged by his own party.

Nixon was honorable and loyal to his people to a fault. No democrats have been either honorable or loyal in my lifetime.
(Ps. I never liked Nixon. He was not a conservative, but a moderate republican who was protectionist and his wage and price freeze was awful )

Nixon had integrity. After his loss to Kennedy Republican leaders urged him to challenge the vote because of fraud. Nixon said, “No, there is too much going on in the world and America needs to come together behind their new president.”
Hillary Clinton will hang on even if it kills people...other people. She cares only about power. Nothing else matters. She is a high stakes gambler who has repeatedly won because of the media. She may win again. Hopefully not.
In any case, she has yet to face the realities of a real election. She appears to be coning apart at the seams. Perhaps she is relying on a sympathy boost if Bill dies. (Bill, I suggest you don’t eat or drink in her presence, especially towards November.)
Nixon was a Bic lighter. Hillary is a forest fire.
Their personal powers are all tied together. It’s a dirty little clique.
The Queen wasn’t taken anywhere.
The FBI went to her house.
Demonstrating that she is in charge, not them.
Having lived through them all, President Nixon at his worst was a better president than Johnson, Carter, Clinton, and Obama combined.
His downfall was his insecurity and his loyalty. Despite being on path for a landslide re-election in 1972, Nixon wanted to leave nothing to chance and thus the Watergate break-in and other "dirty tricks." Once the Watergate burglars were caught, Nixon stuck by them until it was too late to save himself. Proving that the coverup is always worse than the crime.
BTW, the dirty tricks of the Clintons make Nixon's antics seem like those of a boy scout.

The democrat party sees nothing wrong in having Hillery Clinton as their nominee nor does the corrupt media. Treason, murder, bribes. Nothing bothers them.

My read shows: CREEP was responsible for the break-in, Nixon did not know of it until after. His loyalty to those that committed the act was notable and caused his downfall. Nixon tried to cover-up the deed. G Gordon Liddy’s book “Will” is quite instructive on this point and Liddy was as loyal, if not more, to his people and Nixon than most realize.
Been a while since I did my reading on it, but that is what I remember that struck me most.

There is a difference in sides. We are very different. The people I know would not vote for a conservative candidate who was under indictment. NO WAY.
I don’t care how much I hate the hildabeast or the kenyan. If our candidate was as dirty as hillary is, NO WAY we’d vote for that person. Because our side has morals. That may make us dupes but im sorry, i was raised with morals.
