IRS Chief: “Trump is a liar, we audited him because his taxes are highly suspicious” [IRS Lies]
Greenville Gazette ^ | March 2, 2016 | Juan Wilder

Posted on 05/16/2016 9:03:14 AM PDT by Roos_Girl

“We don’t care who you are,” stated Koskinen, “Whether you go to church, or don’t go to church.” Koskinen explained audits occur when something pops up in your tax returns they find suspicious. It’s basically all about the numbers. Party or religious affiliation is not part of any IRS audit red flag, according to Koskinen.

It is possible to be selected for a routine audit (not the line-by-line one) based simply on random chance. Every taxpayer has the opportunity to be selected for this but the odds are quite small. Nothing on your return triggered the audit, you were just the winner of this unfortunate lottery.

Thanks for the amplification. Not many people know about this type of audit, and presume that an audit means something was "wrong".

To give you an idea of the odds: I was the first client of my accountant (at the time) had been subjected to a TCMP audit. But, he was at least aware of the program.

I've posted about it before on FR, and a person purporting to be a CPA claimed he/she had never heard of one, and that there was always some reason for an audit.

I was aware of the program because years ago, I saw a news story about a child with a paper route was subjected to a TCMP audit. His father called the local TV station, and hilarity ensued.

He’ll get a 6 figure bonus for this, just like Lois Lerner did.

I did, several times throughout the comments. I’ve already been told off for not making that crystal clear from the get go. Funny what some people will latch on to and others see the post as it was intended. Que cera cera.

It's time - PAST TIME - for someone to start reporting ON THE PRESS.

Long ago I had a friend who was a Catholic priest and whose order did not take the vow of poverty. Because of a friend’s largesse, he ended up very well off. He was audited each and every year,

*This* IRS, run as it’s been by left wing bullies, has been purely political and is damned dangerous.

It's an editorial. The IRS chief didn't say that -- it's the author's "interpretation" of what the IRS chief said.

This paper should get its act together. They used quotation marks in the headline implying that the IRS Commissioner actually said this. An editor should have never let this be printed.

And exactly why is an IRS official making public statements about an audit? Seems to me it is not his place to do anything but his job - which does not include PR.

I know several people that have claimed that. But, I don't know how you prove/disprove it.

I doubt Jim Robinson would willingly give identity information to the IRS. And he certainly wouldn't do so without notifying the target -- unless the IRS were to somehow suborn the DoJ into using a NSL (National Security Letter) to give up the info, while keeping the inquiry confidential.

Otherwise, if you aren't posting info that can be used to identify you, the IRS doesn't really have a way to find you.

I think it's more likely to be targeted after a conservative organization is forced to give up a donor list. I suspect THAT has happened, and perhaps there is an overlap. But, that was during the Obama regime.

I have talked with Freepers who claim they were targeted after being at Freeps every year thereafter that Clinton was in office.

And exactly why is an IRS official making public statements about an audit?

He didn't. He was responding to Trump's claims that Trump was targeted for an audit. But, he responded with a generic explanation of an audit, and nothing about Trump's specific audit.

And, he didn't use the terms "liar" or "suspicious". That was a fabrication by the author of the article.

The original poster put up this article with no context. Unless you go read the full article AND search for other articles that accurately quote the IRS chief, you can be easily duped into believing that's what he said.

That's exactly what the original author intended, and you fell for it. Don't feel bad, because you weren't the only one. But, maybe the original poster will now understand why I pointed out how her posting perpetuated the attack on Trump.
