Reactor at Hanford SCRAMMED...
Posted on 03/29/2016 11:08:55 AM PDT by djf
One of the nuclear reactors at Hanford has had a scram. That means the cooling failed and the reactor automatically shut down.
The news reports say they are checking it out and will restart when it's safe.

Not unusual.
Probable cause man-made-error on a valve, per Tri Cities Herald.
Nothing much to see here. Really.

There is only one reactor at Hanford anymore since they shut down the N-Reactor and FFTF (Fast Flux Test Facility)20 or so years ago.

Its in the state of Washington poised atop an active volcanic region of the Ring of Fire.
The possibility of an uncontrolled nukular meltdown should pose no “significant” cause for alarm.

I’m amazed anyone who ever heard of Nagasaki and certain events leading to the conclusion of WWII doesn’t know anything about Hanford. Normally from where I sit I would see the steam plume from the plant but not this morning. Probably human error.
