In November Senator Ted Cruz appeared at the National Religious Liberties Conference in Iowa, where he courted the support of the conference’s organizer, Colorado-based pastor and radio host Kevin Swanson.
Cruz was introduced on the stage by Pastor Kevin Swanson – after he called for the execution of gays at the conference.
Kevin Swanson: Yes, Romans Chapter 1 verse 32 the Apostle Paul does says that homosexuals are worthy of death. His words not mine! And I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ! And I am not ashamed of the truth of the word of God. And I am willing to go to jail…
…Now my friends let me introduce to you the next candidate for the office of President of the United States, folks please make welcome Senator Ted Cruz.
That seems a bit extreme. No?
Ted’s father Rafael also spoke at the conference.
At the same conference Pastor Swanson begged God to forgive America for Harry Potter.

i don’t see anything in the article where the Pastor calls for any executions. The headline is a lie.
I don’t think Cruz shares Swanson’s views (after all he has solicited money from big time gay marriage proponents). However, he seems to have very poor judgement regarding the people he associates with: Glenn Beck, Chad Sweet, Jeff Roe, Michael Chertoff, etc. A voter might question that judgement based on the Reagan era principle that “people are policy”.
Of course he heard and understood it. This isn’t the first time he’s stood on stage with a religious nut. Seven Mountains Dominionism is a scary, theocratic bunch of nonsense.
No, they simply dislike him because he’s such a hateful person.
He didn’t call for their death, he read a verse that basically says even knowing God’s penalty, ultimate eternal death, they broke God’s law anyway and gave approval to others who practiced the same things. And by the way, it’s not just homosexuality in view here, but also those “filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips,
slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless.”
It’s sad day when a Bible verse can’t be read in public. Swanson is a Presbyterian, I’m a Sovereign Grace Baptist, so we often often agree, but sometimes we disagree. I’ve heard him preach and speak dozens of times via sermon audio.com. He’s an earnest Christian brother, zealous for the cause of Christ, not a nut.
Trump supporters better be careful here, because some of the true nuts of evangelicalism are backing Trump, people such as Paula White and Kenneth Copeland. Trump met and prayed with them. They even laid hands on him. I’m uncomfortable with some of those Cruz and his father associate with, but Trump has associated with much worse, the grifting word faith heresy types. I promise you don’t want their words being associated with Trump.
You would be shocked at the Biblical and theological references in the books.
I don't understand what you're saying in the first paragraph. In the second, you're absolutely right about the Biblical and theological references. Whoever wrote the books was incredibly well-read, witty, and evil.
From the interviews she has given and that last book she published, I'm not at all confident the Rowling woman wrote the Harry Potter books. She doesn't seem that smart or even particularly verbal, and she doesn't seem to have the background. Looking at her bio, I don't see how books that long and complex could have been written by anyone in that short a span of time. They seem like the work of an older, poofy, sarcastic male with a long British academic history and a lot of time on his hands. The whole thing is odd.
As you say, this video is edited, and even in the video they admit to the Swanson speech and the Cruz appearance being two different times. What people miss about the Swanson speech, and what’s wrong about the OP headline, is that Swanson is not arguing that Christians should harm gays, but that God views homosexuality as worthy of death, which He does. This speech is about the religious freedom to teach what the Bible teaches without fear of “hate speech” charges. In that context, Swanson is not saying anything Ted would or should be ashamed of. But a well edited tape and an uncomprehending audience make for great leftist propaganda. That should not surprise or discourage anyone who supports Cruz. It’s just the world in which we now live, and to survive in it we must adapt, by fighting the lies, not caving in to them.
Peace,
SR
Nope it is not. You can make assumptions, but you cannot prove those assumptions to be true or false. This is exactly how the little game of passing a sentence from person to person around a circle ends up with the ending sentence having no resemblance to the first. Even from the bible perspective- Saying that someone deserves something and actually calling for them to get what they deserve are two different things entirely. If humanity got what it deserved then there would be nothing left of it.
Obviously cut and edited. Yes Kevin Swanson is a certified nut.
I dont care for Cruz, but this is B.S. and should not be used against him.

But it will. One of the reasons he’s never going to be electable.
Ted has failed to make “good choices” on a number of occasions during this campaign, which is why I’m no longer a Cruz supporter. The fact that he is now obviously supported by the Bush family just demonstrates the old adage that Ted is clearly “educated well beyond his intelligence”.
You've got that right. I've had to train myself to be immediately skeptical of ANYTHING the media says or "reports" over the past ten or more years. THEY hold the full burden to prove my skepticism wrong, but they never do. Perhaps the basic facts are somewhat correct, but their spin makes everything they say a lie.
If you're going to misinterpret the Bible this way, Paul would be calling for the execution of EVERYBODY, not just gays.
Now I'm understanding why Cruz calls you "low information voters."
That is gross ignorance on your part...ignorance of Biblical scripture and ignorance of Ted Cruz. You are the exact opposite of your handle.
You can say its not, but thats debatable that most people would disagree with you about.
Then most people would be Biblically illiterate.
So, you don’t want to answer the question. I expected that.
Referencing a Bible verse is calling for their execution? What horsecrap is this?
When you say someone is worthy of death.
The Bible says every human being is worthy of death. Haven’t you read the Book?
Amazing how many Trump seminar posters are on this forum. I wonder how much they are paid.
No need to even pull out the fancy latin. Every kid knows “two wrongs don’t make a right”.
