Sen. Ben Sasse: I Will Never Ever Vote for Trump
Townhall.com ^ | February 29, 2016 | Christine Rousselle

Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE) posted "An Open Letter to Trump Supporters" on his official Facebook page that outlined exactly why he will not be supporting Donald Trump this November if he were to be the nominee. He urged conservatives to find a third option to support if Trump were to land the party's nomination.

(Emphasis added)

My current answer for who I would support in a hypothetical matchup between Mr. Trump and Mrs. Clinton is: Neither of them. I sincerely hope we select one of the other GOP candidates, but if Donald Trump ends up as the GOP nominee, conservatives will need to find a third option.

Here's the full post

Sasse was also critical of Trump's use of the term "reign," explaining that Nebraskans are not asking for a person to run for king, but rather a Constitutional Republic. He also expressed concerns about Trump's statements about "open(ing) up libel laws" and censoring journalists who do not agree with him.

AN OPEN LETTER TO TRUMP SUPPORTERS To my friends supporting Donald Trump: The Trump coalition is broad and...Posted by Ben Sasse on Sunday, February 28, 2016

For most of the last twelve months I have consistently said that I will not vote for Trump in either a primary or general election. Nothing has occurred that calls that position into question. Far from it. Mr. Trump reinforces my view of him every time he opens his mouth.

All the Americans voting for Trump will cancel out this GOPe’s traitorious vote nicely.

Kaslin, you going to vote Trump in election if he wins nomination or you voting for the Dem?

Your logic is flawed

If you support Rubio & Cruz, nothing will change with immigration. No wall would get built & maybe a few violent illegals get deported. Illegals get their amnesty and we will forever be under democrat rule.

“65% of conservatives do not support Trump”

So then the question is: “Do those 65% of conservatives think that Hillary Clinton would be a better President than a guy who received the endorsement of Senator Jeff Sessions?”

I’m a conservative, and Trump’s positions are not all my cup of tea (to say the least), but I will vote for ANYONE the Republicans put up against Hillary.

You are slightly misinformed on the candidates’ positions.

Trump acknowledges that he is for “touch back” amnesty “for the good ones,” (direct quotes from the last debate) while Cruz’s position is to keep them out.

I do agree Rubio is much more open borders.

65% of conservatives must support the same open borders policies of Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz.

I get it...A=Z. Logic does not appear to be your strong suit.

Read the latest polls and you may decide to come up to date. Cruz is favored by conservatives 37 to 32 percent. Does that mean 63% of conservatives do not like Cruz? Heck no. I like Cruz but he is my second choice for President behind Trump.

Little Miss We Are Not Amused is blind to the fact eschewing the Republican candidate is voting for Hillary and her bedmate Death to America.

I just read Sasse post and other material... he is making a compelling case but I can't allow Hillary in. But Trump does sound like a fascist at time... From Sasse

Statements from Trump:

***"We're going to open up libel laws and we're going to have people sue you like you’ve never got sued before."

***“When the students poured into Tiananmen Square, the Chinese government almost blew it. They were vicious, they were horrible, but they put it down with strength. That shows you the power of strength. Our country is right now perceived as weak…”

***Putin, who has killed journalists and is pillaging Ukraine, is a great leader.

***The editor of National Review “should not be allowed on TV and the FCC should fine him.”

***On whether he will use executive orders to end-run Congress, as President Obama has illegally done: "I won't refuse it. I'm going to do a lot of things." “I mean, he’s led the way, to be honest with you.”

***“Sixty-eight percent would not leave under any circumstance. I think that means murder. It think it means anything.”

***On the internet: “I would certainly be open to closing areas” of it.

***His lawyers to people selling anti-Trump t-shirts: “Mr. Trump considers this to be a very serious matter and has authorized our legal team to take all necessary and appropriate actions to bring an immediate halt...”

***Similar threatening legal letters to competing campaigns running ads about his record.

And on it goes…

I am not a Trump supporter so I can say unbiased- Sasse is butt FACE stupid.

Romney and the GOPe will throw the election to Hillary with a strawman 3rd party candidate like Sasse if Trump is the nom. Couldn’t be more clear now.

This is the rebellion. It’s on. A real time for choosing.

Sasse was just elected in 2014 and he is already full of himself. Looks like another on-term Senator like Rubio. I hope Cruz runs and is reflected Senator from Texas.

65% of conservatives do not support Trump

Roughly 88% of ALL Alabama GOP primary voters do not prefer “principled conservative” Ted Cruz. Comprende?
