Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE) posted "An Open Letter to Trump Supporters" on his official Facebook page that outlined exactly why he will not be supporting Donald Trump this November if he were to be the nominee. He urged conservatives to find a third option to support if Trump were to land the party's nomination.
(Emphasis added)
My current answer for who I would support in a hypothetical matchup between Mr. Trump and Mrs. Clinton is: Neither of them. I sincerely hope we select one of the other GOP candidates, but if Donald Trump ends up as the GOP nominee, conservatives will need to find a third option.

Sasse was also critical of Trump's use of the term "reign," explaining that Nebraskans are not asking for a person to run for king, but rather a Constitutional Republic. He also expressed concerns about Trump's statements about "open(ing) up libel laws" and censoring journalists who do not agree with him.
AN OPEN LETTER TO TRUMP SUPPORTERS To my friends supporting Donald Trump: The Trump coalition is broad and...Posted by Ben Sasse on Sunday, February 28, 2016
I will not vote FOR trump I will VOTE AGANIST Hillary.. it ma be semantics to some but for me its a matter of intent.
Here’s the thing. To these politicians, “conservative” means an entirely different thing than what the average voter actually believes and wants. “Conservative” means MAINTAINING THE STATUS QUO of BIG GOV and BIG BUSINESS for the entitlement of the GOV-DONOR CLASS!
Interesting to witness this guys public meltdown, over the past few weeks.
Not a pretty thing to see....for this freshman Senator.
The GOPe moving to support Hillary and the Uniparty.
Didn’t Midge admit to this, recently??
Isnt that his choice?
Maybe legally, but politically it seems logically odd that he wouldn’t support the candidate of his party. To announce it publicly is more than a microaggression, it’s a campaign to give a 1/2 vote to the Democrats.
One vote in Nebraska. No one cares. Go pound sand.
RINOized.
Well, one person that can be scratched off the Veep list.
I don’t know anything about Sasse, except he purported to be a TEA party Senator and got seriously crossways with Mitch McConnell because Sasse backed Matt Blevin.
He’s seems OK, in short. Although I do see he worked at the Boston Consulting Group where Romney was.
so unsuing you logic 75-80% don’t want Cruz and the same amount don’t want Rubio!
Right here, pal.
Practically, so long as there’s no third party run, dissension amongst GOP leadership could save a lot of down ticket races.
Trump is polarizing and controversial. Which is why a lot of people like him. And also why a lot of people hate him. If, should he get the nomination, divorcing him from the downticket races in districts that hate him and where he could do damage is a good thing.
Your logic is flawed.
Since when did Townhall give a flying fig what Ben Sasse said?
Adios to you ‘Uncle Ben”
Wish you Success..........ha,ha,ha,!
Lots of Nebraskans may never vote for him again, either. Maybe he doesn’t care, as with a year before reelection he could have just kept his mouth shut.
But they want Amnesty and open borders so bad.
Trump could end those hopes for a generation.
Who? That turkey is trying to ride Trump’s coattails.
Oops not a year, my mistake
